what is it called? i like it a lot. i want to conceive of a way to find it and then figure out a way to mod it back into the game

This is definitely something I, too, would like to see added to the game.

Heck, you wouldn't even need to bother the modding community with it anymore. Shadowbringers just added the option for "themes" to the game, with a promise of more to come. Just use the 1.0 interface graphics/menu sounds and call it "Legacy Theme": I'll subscribe for 5 advance months to show my appreciation.

Me too. There was a choice of how your targeting lock showed in 1.0 too that I miss. I had the fancier,prettier looking one and I miss it still. I remember looking for that early on in ARR only to be disappointed.

I actually posted a request for the 1.0 theme/font style to be added to ARR back during ARR's Alpha and Beta tests... but alas it got no response from the development team so I just chalked it up as there being no interest in it, which is a shame as I really liked the old-fashioned interface style 1.0 had (I did not like the lack of functionality said interface had though, I'm so glad that is gone). I'm happy to see I am not alone here.

So take my like as I would so love to have this!
