I've always wondered, would they make it to where the hair could be a different color then the ears on the miqo'te?

I'm not sure. I know the males have a few hairstyles where there ears will have black spots and/or dots, but they're locked to a few hairstyles, and you can't switch them up either. I believe their was one hairstyle that changed the ear colour to your highlight's colour. Can't say for certain if the females have that at all as I have not made a female Miqo'te.
And I honestly doubt they'll add it either. I'm all for it, as more customization is always welcome in my opinion, but we'll probably hear something about "Server Limitations" or "Character Creation Limitations" again if they were asked to add something like this.
I'm not getting my hopes up, but colour me surprised if they did add it.
As far as i'm aware there isn't much to the customizing for female Miqo'te, i have always played a Miqo'te and i don't plan on switching, I just wish that the hair, ears, AND tail don't have to be the same color...
Like the ears and Tail being the same color makes sense, but the hair... it should be able to be different. I know i probably sound like i'm whining, but I'd really like to see this happen
Ears are part of the hairstyle. Some have colour variations built into the design (one of my alts has black-tipped ears) and some are affected by the highlight colour, but they're tied to the specific designs and you can't choose them independently.
It's very unlikely that they would add a completely separate colour choice at this point. The character creator doesn't seem to get updates beyond extra hairstyles, but also it makes logical sense for them to be the same colour - fur and hair are the same thing essentially, and the same colour is applied to both. I think they would look strange if they were different colours.
I agree with you, I'd be nice to see it happen, yet I am doubtful that it will. I know there are a few tails that allow the tip to be coloured differently (by again, using the hair's highlight colour). It's not exactly what you may be after, but it's something, I suppose.
Other than that I can't really think of anything else that could achieve such a thing, at least not with what we currently have. Let's hope they release some hairstyles in the future with a different colour pattern on the ears, as that may be the best thing they could (hopefully) do for now.
Yeah, what Kina said. I really liked the black marks on some of the male miqo'te ears, but the fact they were locked to hairstyles I didn't like, I've never used them. In general, different coloured ears/tails would be really nice. I think it could be an added feature like "ear/tail colour." Some examples:

The mismatched colour definitely bugs me at an artistic level. It makes it look like the ears aren't part of their body - they look tacked on. There's no continuity between the human and animal parts. (The guy in the middle also appears to have human ears in addition to the cat ears.)
For comparison, the black-eared Miqo'te design - the main hair colour is still visible on the ears with a gradient to black. It's definitely part of him, and merges into the rest of his hair.
Under a cut because the image was a bit big:
(sorry for the dark background.)
Another detail I've noticed with Miqo'te designs is that the skin inside their ears reflects their main skin colour setting. My other Miqo'te character has darker skin and so his ears are darker as well.
