off guard is mostly for single target (boss fights/special mobs) it got a massiv range and can be set from the backyard after avoiding mechanics f.e. - while peculiar light is a centered aoe what is most effektiv on DD-dng-rushing mime builds or tank builds. I think that's the main difference. its like the old sleep u need a target for (the one with the green icon) and the new one (purple icon) which is as well a centered aoe most likely for tanks or healers in an oh-shit-moments if they take aggro or the tank is going to fall soon cause of overmobbing f.e.

sure u can do that but consider that u don't even need to make them for every aoe skill cause the primal skills will share their recast timer as well maybe its a better choice to take eruption (30 sec cooldown - fastes primal cd) and ramuh/shiva over garuda/titan cause they don't need an aoe selection. feather rain needs all mobs to stand in the target area to receive the dot dmg what can be pretty nasty - out of carnival I rarely have that skill on my bar tho. (titan is nice in some situation its like shiva a cone aoe without a target, which means they can be used to weave in easily without selecting a target/area or using a macro for them).

but in the end like always - I wouldn't get used to use macros in generell sometimes they can help but living with the delays/chainproblems isn't fun - at least not for me ^^
