Good evening
Since yesterday my game has been crashing whenever I try to play in borderless window mode or press alt+tab while on fullscreen. It used to happen sometimes before but nowadays it happens every single time.

I have already disabled the overlay from geforce experience (going so far as uninstalling the program), discord and steam and it keeps happening.
Does anyone have any solution to this?

Does the crash occur in a specific location in game? Additionally could you try updating the graphics drivers?

I've tried both updating and downgrading the driver but it didn't help
The crash happens when I start the game on borderless window, when I try to change to borderless window during gameplay or when I press alt+tab middle game

Does the crash occur if the game is running on full screen? Could you try changing the compatibility mode? To change compatibility mode, right click on the exe file (Default location: C:\Program Files (x86)\SquareEnix\Final Fantasy XIV - A Realm Reborn\boot\ffxivboot.exe), right click it and select ‘Properties.’ Select the ‘Compatibility’ tab and select Windows 7.

Changed the compatibility but it still crashes when pressing alt +tab or trying to go borderless window

And no, the game does not crash while running on full screen, unless I try to change it to borderless window or press alt+tab

Good afternoon and thank you for the reply.

Could you try doing a cleanboot? Open the task manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC) and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC.
