Blue Mage: Masked Carnivale 29 Needs Nerf Badly!

This fight is impossible! I can (usually) survive the insane barrage of OHKO attacks until the hands are summoned and then that's that. I cannot kill them. I've upgraded my gear as high as possible, I've watched videos, I've slotted every requisite spell and I cannot bring these stupid freaking things down without either over DPSing the hands and letting fluid swing slip by or under DPSing to get the fluid slip and getting beaten down so hard that I need to heal off and have to diamondback through two big splashes at once which isn't survivable.

This is fake difficulty and completely unfair. Bring it down to a manageable level.

I'm not going to comment on whether or not the fight needs a nerf, but I will say this - it was one of the most difficult things I ever had to do solo. However, it IS beatable.

I recently decided to clear the masked carnivale for the rez spell, and for my own sanity, I did it in either 5 or 6 'easy stages' per day, or one 'BS impossible stage' per day.

For the 'BS impossible stages', I had to lose to them about 50 times or so. Once I was able to stop thinking about it and let my muscle memory handle it, I could clear it after 1 to 3 tries.

Are you killing the left hand first? What spells are you using?

The hands usually went down pretty fast for me; it helped to focus target the boss though so I'd see when he started casting the fluid smack more easily. Also standing as far from the other hand as possible so by the time it got to me the first hand was half dead already.

Not sure how much difference it makes but I went in with dps mimicry too. Had to watch my mana cause I did need to stop and white wind a few times (died once cause I had less than 3k and no lucid dreaming...), but as long as you have enough to cast diamondback for the second splash he does it should be fine after the hands are down.

I'd say it's definitely one of the hardest fights, but also definitely not impossible.

What would you consider real difficulty then?

The way I eventually figured out how to deal with hands was simply to stand right behind one of them so that I was able to hit both of them and the boss with Glower. You don't have to kite them, their autos deal inconsequential damage so it's safe to just take it to the face and line up your Glower.

The boss still needs to be interrupted but that's the easy part. Just have it focus-targeted or watch its castbar on the aggro list. In fact, I think if you line it up correctly, you can probably have the boss selected the whole time.

Also if you're having MP issues due to healing, try Mimicry: Healer and Pom Cure instead of White Wind.

So nuh it doesn't have to be nerfed, the difficulty is perfect. It was a fun fight to prog and it felt satisfying to finally get right.

It was pretty annoying and I'm glad I'll never have to do it again. It's mostly just learning the patterns, which is awful since you have to redo the first fight every time.

Short version: Git gud. Asking for nerfs should never be a solution.
Longer Version: Pepsiman and his hands are weak to lightning, use that to your advantage. Hands do not have that much health, so just burn them down one at a time. Tossing a fish at Pepsiman shouldn't be that hard as well.

    Sometimes rumors are just... rumors.

It's fine as long as you aren't dumping all of your burst on the boss right before the hands spawn. The vast majority of BLU's damage comes from their cooldowns so you really don't want to use them all before any kind of tight DPS check.

I can see it being a bit daunting for people who don't do EX or savage content, though.

The only thing I disliked is the arbitrary "Must have Exuviation to not die" requirement for act 2. Needing Diamondback for Big Splash is no biggy because any self-respecting BLU will always have that on their bar.

1900 damage when you're taking hits from 2-3 mobs every 2 seconds and you have 18000 health is not exactly what I'd call "inconsequential".

Something that doesn't feel like it was designed by the jackhole who made Silver Surfer for the NES.
