I think it's mostly because it's called Chemist in the Tactics games, people want that idea implemented and they could call it anything if they choose to implement it. In Bravely Default it was called Salve-Maker but that doesn't exactly roll of the tongue lol

You basically have a 100% success rate, so Chemist confirmed!
I'm from 1 MS in the future.
I'm not sure how it would be confusing.
People call Alchemist ALC and Chemist would be CHM or something.
I said this before but they could make the Alchemist guild branch out
and then make a team of Alchemist that go on the field and use their potions
to heal and buff and stuff. So it won't be hard to try and add them into the game.
As for the name - https://www.gameskinny.com/2yl52/bra...aker-job-guide
(Other link broke it.)
I don't like how it sounds at all but here's an alternative.
I just wanna new healer job dangit lol!

How about potioneer? That's different from existing classes, succinct and descriptive (or at least matches how I imagine the class would work).
I don't call it ALC when I'm in voice chats with people. Chemist and Alchemist are the same name with 2 letters added for the crafter. I get that people will use the different shortenings making it easier to figure out through text but I could see it creating confusion if it also uses potions as a fighting/healing mechanic I could see that as confusing given both make and use potions. I'm fine with the concept and think it'd be interesting or fun, maybe even funny, to see in action and would appreciate seeing it working. If they can make classes I thought wouldn't work like Red Mage and Dancer, I'm willing to see anything. I just find the naming very similar and could create confusion to new players who are not familiar with shortenings or when things were added. (IE, my new friend can't keep SCH and SMN straight, and doesn't know the crafters from each other so imagine if he had ALC and CHM on top of that when he still thinks RDM was added in HW and MCH was Stormblood)

Medic, Pharmacist, Physician, Surgeon and Doctor.
Physician feels rather Old-timey and Esoterical while Surgeon seems more technical and battle oriented. Both describe a more medicine oriented practice rather than a job about concocting potions.
But I suppose we should stride as far from Alchemist as we can.
I don't know how confusing Alchemist vs. Chemist would be for a new player, but Apothecary or Physician would get the same idea across just as well.
Chemist all the way. And while they are at it they could add in White Mage, Scholar, and Astro. Right now we only have empty lifeless husks.
