Actually that was basically what I was trying to say, I guess I didn't put it very clearly.
I don't know much about jobs in FF lore, but I checked the FF Wiki and I'd pay any amount of money for a Time Mage the way it sounds like they were portrayed in FFXII. It says they were battlemages. I have been clamoring for a battlemage since I started this game. It's my go-to class and playstyle in any MMO or single player RPG I play. Caster/melee hybrid. The closest we have in this game is RDM, which is why I main it.
you're basically describing the Parivir class from FFTA2 (which was one of the best in the game, but that's unrelated here)Personally, I'm very skeptical about the addition of MSK. How would that really be any different from Samurai but with visual effects that suggest elemental magic? I mean you could just take Samurai but change midare to "fire blade" and hinganbana to "thunder blade" and the AoE one to "ice blade" or something like that and oh look suddenly you have your mystic knight. They would have to make it unique somehow within the trinity system. A lot of people say something along the lines of "it could be like the opposite of red mage" but for what purpose would a MSK ever go into ranged? MSK's don't actually cast spells, they use elemental magic to strengthen their melee attacks. So either it risks intruding upon RDM's area of expertise by (nonsensically) casting spells at range or it becomes a carbon copy of Samurai but with different names and visual effects.
Caster/melee hybrid is red mage. I guess maybe there was some weird job in FFXII called a time battlemage or whatever but that's definitely not what a time mage is and it definitely would not be presented that way if it was implemented in FFXIV. A traditional Time Mage, which is what we would get if it came to FFXIV, is just a regular mage that casts "time magic".I don't know much about jobs in FF lore, but I checked the FF Wiki and I'd pay any amount of money for a Time Mage the way it sounds like they were portrayed in FFXII. what is a 'traditional' time mage in eorzea? given that AST quests go out of their way to say that proper time magic is impossible for mortals (ascians do it but they've got huge aetheric guts and iirc it was mentioned that it would've eventually killed nabriales anyway had we not finished them ourselves) and the devs mechanically shucked all time-based stuff out of AST in shadowbringers.Caster/melee hybrid is red mage. then again none of the AST lore makes sense after the ShB changes anyway (hoo boy card lore), and it wouldnt surprise me to see the devs make a new class from the stolen parts of another when it was still good.
There is an npc in the Hildabrand quests that in a time mage. It's quite a good little bit of quest chain.what is a 'traditional' time mage in eorzea? given that AST quests go out of their way to say that proper time magic is impossible for mortals (ascians do it but they've got huge aetheric guts and iirc it was mentioned that it would've eventually killed nabriales anyway had we not finished them ourselves) and the devs mechanically shucked all time-based stuff out of AST in shadowbringers.

By "traditional" I meant traditional in the final fantasy sense, not the FFXIV sense. A time mage is just a mage that specializes in "time magic" such as haste, slow, stop, and so on. The "Caster/melee hybrid" has long been referred to as a Red Mage and that is (for the most part) what we have here.what is a 'traditional' time mage in eorzea? given that AST quests go out of their way to say that proper time magic is impossible for mortals (ascians do it but they've got huge aetheric guts and iirc it was mentioned that it would've eventually killed nabriales anyway had we not finished them ourselves) and the devs mechanically shucked all time-based stuff out of AST in shadowbringers.

Corsair dual wielding pistols... Dice roll self and party buffs, debuffs. Kinda like a dps astro with more specific buffs. Maybe even allowing stuff like resetting a random cooldown for a specific player... Things like that.
now that i'm able to post again (i didnt know there was a daily limit, that's weird), that npc was: sadly part of "in it's own world" non-canon content (per yoshi-p), not a mortal (effectively a MASSIVE battery), and suffered horrible consequences for it's use.
(he's also my current and eternal minion, since his original game is my fave and he's my favorite character therein)
I could certainly see a time mage/ sorceress similar to the sorceresses from FFVIII
