It also introduces the different high houses and their very different view on things.
By the time you have located the airship and finished your trip through Coerthas you have already learned a lot about Ishgard, its people, its struggle and the different high houses with their own views, responsibilities and agendas.
Of all the ARR arcs, I think this is one that should be kept as close as possible to how it is now.

Also: shoving the false Inquisitor down witch drop without any evidence that HE is the responsible for everything?
Congrats, you just got a lifelong ban from Ishgard plus plenty of temple knights tailing you for murdering one of their most respected people. ;D
No because in my version we gave Haurchefant a headpat which makes it all okay. Also he slaps all the difficult people to make them curl up in a corner and cry while we actually get stuff done. All of the setup, all of the payoff and all of the Haurchefant with none of the drudgery!

Joking aside, I would have been happy to do that entire inquisitor thing if it had been a sidequest. I LOVE learning about lore and politics and people and individual characters from sidequests, I have done all sidequests in the game TWICE and I'm working on my third character right now, she's about halfway through Stormblood. I genuinely enjoy taking things slow and clearing the map of exclamation marks as I go.

And that questline felt like the longest sidequest in the history of sidequesting. But as part of the main quest? No, 70% of the Coerthas back-and-forth felt redundant to me in the face of the story at hand. I suspect it was padded so much only because it had so many EXP levels to cover.

In fact, I had such a bad impression of Ishgardians after that I think it had the opposite effect than intended on me. Being put through all that may have been one of the reasons I didn't like the story of Heavensward, or at least the parts of it that had to do with Ishgard. I didn't care for Ishgard or its people one little bit, and I would have happily refused to interfere with their internal affairs if only the game had given me the option to.
As far as I was concerned, once the whole Ul'dah... coup... but not really... thing... plot kinda just resolved itself, I would have been happy to leave Ishgard to its well-deserved fate and get on with reassembling the Scions and hunting down Ilberd. A city of sanctimonious buttfaces who don't even WANT me there are having a dragon problem? Well that's unfortunate but they've been having that problem for a thousand years sooooo... they'll live, probably. And if not, you won't see me shedding a tear. Alphinaud can deal with it himself if he loves them so much. I'd rather do something I have more of a reason to care about - anything else.

    While I know there are areas that can be improved;

I recall in an interview that they said it's difficult to edit ARR locals because either an event is tied to a location on the field or there's some arbitrary code that if removed would cause issues elsewhere.

I don't remember when the interview was though but it was at least pre 4.2

The 100 quests to HW. I have several friends who want to play but are waiting on them to change this. Keep the fights, of course, but remove the filler.
Make hunts in ARR areas harder to kill but allow them to still be able to be done by lower level jobs.
Put an aeitheryte at the Waking Sands. (While we are at it, this is a HW area but put one in the Hinterlands!!!) I think removing the point of going there defeats the "big thing" that happens after Titan but definitely do not need that long ride everytime.
Put gemstones in for FATEs in ARR, and make rewards available like in ShB areas.
Fix maps so you can fly/swim.
Cut out some of the more obnoxious fetch quests in the msq.
Fix the music in some ARR areas. I don't know if it's just me but I'll notice the music isn't playing right.

ACN would become Scholar Class, summoner would receive a new beginner class called the "Sorcerer" or "Invoker" or "Spiritualist" or whatever fits best the theme n flavor in favor of FF14.

From then on only arcanists/scholers use books, all summoner book skins become acn/sch only skins, summoners and their beginner class use instead then warhorns to call their summons with them.

Both classes get their whole skill sets from Level 1 to 30 reworked, cause the whole skill sets of bith never fitted to the skills they us, which sre in fact green mage skills, stuff like bio, miasma, tridisaster, ect all dont belobg to the theme of neither a Scholar nor especially a Summoner.

summoner gets its gameplay mechanic changed, only Scholar should use Ether with skills like Energy Drain/Draw.
Summoners need to be designed alot more around supporting snd buffing their summons to make them more effective and efficient in the small time window that they are there when being summoned.

They are sbout dealing alot of aoe damage with their summons, not about spamming tons of negative dots snd micromsnahing these, thats not the job of a summoner to do this misdesigned stuff, greenmages would to that when going for the offense, if they current don't bufftheir allies.

I'd rather keep my book and the current gameplay, thanks...

Honestly I don't think the Coerthas part was overdone....

The real problem with it... is that the underlying theme going on in the background is this supposed Emergency with Garuda coming back and you needing that Airship ASAP. So there's a sense of urgency under everything... yet the questline doesn't play into this very well. The questline loligags around ignoring this.

It kind of ends up defeating the purpose. Its something where you need to get the airship first.... THEN complete the Coerthas background information and storyline.

Because the actual background information in the Coerthas storyline is so crucial to the Heavensward expansion and the mood at the end of ARR... you can't skip it or cut it out as it will devalue the transition to the expansion.. so it has to stay in there as is...

BUT... you're going to have to re-arrange how the events of the quest take place. Get the airship first defeat Garuda... then return to assist the Ishgardians there to complete the smooth transfer lead in to the Heavenward expansion

The problem is that right after Garuda, we get the Ultima Weapon thrown in our faces. Dropping that to go back to Coerthas is just trading one pacing problem for another.

I was very much on the side of "why should I help Ishgard? They are bunch of elite asses."

I think we should separate SMN and SCH. Make one of them a level 30 starting job like DRK, MCH, and AST. I would say give SMN a conductor's wand for a weapon and let SCH keep the books.
Get rid of most of the back and forth stuff. I don't need to head back to the Waking Sands to just have a conversation. Why do we even have the linkshell if we aren't going to use it all the time? Are there a certain number of minutes? can we upgrade our data plan to unlimited? If you want the quest to end at the Waking Sands for whatever reason, then load me there when I am supposed to be there.
Also, for the DRG job quest, I may be remembering this wrong, but isn't Estinien the Bad Guy? Maybe fix that.....

Frankly, I don't get why people are so bothered by Vesper Bay lacking an Aetheryte. Going from Horizon or Limsa Lominsa to there will only take up a couple minutes of your time.

The real issue here is the MSQ design of ARR which made you kept going back and forth to the Waking Sands. That's what they should fix. Adding an Aetheryte patches up some things, but doesn't fix the root of the issue.

Yeah I agree there. Tho I think that's what they are doing so it's a wait and see kindof deal. HOPEFULLY they take this take on fixing ARR instead of just putting a bandaid of no use there.
