    BLU spells you wish you could've gotten this patch (5.15)

    Yesterday while hunting for spells i've noticed quite a few ppl talking on how they wish could get certain skills from mob/bosses like nidhoog's akh morn or the dragon's gaze from thordan, so i figured i might as well ask here to check out what ppl are wishing for lol

    In my case i wish they gave us altar pyre, holiest of holies and more primal skills overall (possibly 2 more that share the slot with ravana's, 1 that share shiva/levi slot and 1 that share ramuh/titan slot to balance it out, considering 4 primals were left out [Bismark, Thordan, Sephirot and Zurvan] and j-kick shares the garuda/ifrit/sophia slot. Nidhogg could be a standalone skill probably)

    I wouldn't mind getting more Mob spells. fire spikes, thunder spikes, etc

    And I want overpowered spells. Blue can't do anything because the Devs say it's overpowered. Yet all "overpowered" spells have restrictions. Like doom and missile having low hit chances despite most dungeon mobs are resistant to them anyway.

    Alexander's time stop and Chocobo meteor would be neat.

    • Restraint collar from the Griffin and Sanguine Blade (dash to location and immediately turn and deal damage behind (where you were))
    • Cloud Call from Sohr Khai
    • Hraesvelgr's big breath
    • tonze swipes and swings
    • Reverse from Kuribu (say changes your raise into a huge damage potency spell lol)
    • Hot wings / Tail from Nidhog
    • maybe a weird one like Sohm Al's Myath where you spawn a slime or two and have a short amount of time to go stand on the slime spawned somewhere accessibly near you (skill replaces itself with another that'll be available if you're on a slime to throw said slime for whatever color effect it may have- either after X casts or % chance to also spawn a large slime)
    • Acceleration Bomb (Ozma- very high potency but reliably used when the monster is casting something longer that you can predict "action")
    • etc...

    Specifically would like a. more mechanically borked skills, and b. as reason given to us for the reason blue is limited, at least when more interesting, the real version of the monster spell. Alternatively a b.+ would be if a skill can be made greatly more interesting, and the monster variant is rather simple color + potency then perhaps do so- I'd hope the job is limited because "who cares" about balance "we're limited for the feels" (which I often feel is not the case, at least for me is a bit of a disappointing feel in light of having to be limited for whatever reason).

    This spell works for both a and b points above but Fire Angon, both the blue mage boss (burning angon) and the actual boss you get the spell from have a more interesting non-generic fire spell where you toss a fire spear that will then begin to emit very large aoes that apply a stacking dot and both bosses seem to have a charge mechanic. Our version is just fire aoe, 50% reduction type thing. This spell meets both desires in that our fire angon is less interesting and less accurate version of the monster variant and also could have been an example of a "borked" mechanic. To further that point on "when interesting" I thought that fire angon could be a fun spell to encourage players to build fire builds (fire related spells), where fire angon erupts into that aoe dot every time you cast another different fire spell (while inactive the charges for fire angon will grow, such that you could drop quite a few down).

    Another example to 'doesn't seem to be true to form' would be Angel Whisper which has been a full life raise or a cure + re-raise, here our raise is an oGCD (300 second) standard like raise.

    Without derailing the point of this topic too much I'd also like to say the job needs to have a more interesting kit outside of hype week, and as a personal note I'd like to see more interesting/interweaving/interacting (directly and indirectly) in general as well. Blue Mage begins to get a rotation once you've done a bunch of instance content and as many people who talk positively say it's because of 100% chance when synced that it gets more fun (something I did suggest before it was added, not saying because of me but I think I've at least "okay" aim with blue mage). This is a huge problem, imo, as once the content dies down those who want to enjoy blue mage are going to suffer low drop chance with people offering trades / charity, or very very slow sync PF groups being created (especially as the PF tool added is for 60 only and isn't like a DF). So I think there needs to be more interesting spells that are entirely solo achievable that are not potentially 200 run primals. Though like I said I don't want to derail the thread much, yet I do want to add there is a lot more I'd like to say and suggest are issues with the design of blue mage currently in many different categories (so in relation to your thread simply "more over-world monsters", but also noting I think the issue is more complex than that).

    I honestly still want to learn something from a succubus so we have a spell with that malevolent laugh that they do.

    There are multiple options in that regard. The final boss of Haukke Manor (Hard) has Fatal Allure which functions like a Sticky Tongue with Terror instead of Stun. Then there's Beguiling Mist which is a wide AoE that inflicts the Seduced status, causing enemies to slowly walk towards you and even has little heart animations over their heads. Carmilla from the Masked Carnival also likes to laugh when using Blood Rain and Dark Sabbath.

    There's even have combo potential with these spells. Fatal Allure into Blood Sword, or Beguiling Mist into Blood Rain as examples.

    Pls SE. There are a lot of options. Let me have at least one.

    These are just some of the more overpowered style moves that blue was sold for but never got and I hope to see added at some point. Some previous posters mentioned some fun ones

    You are so right about the "overpowered spells have restrictions". Cant use Petrify 5 unless your mobs' level are multiple of 5...really SE. Missile is pathetic with the low hit rate.
