Request: Blazefire Saber equippable on Gunbreaker

At the time of the XIII crossover event GNB obviously wasn't in the game, so the Blazefire Saber is locked to GLD/PLD right now (which looked pretty weird with in the first place to be honest).

Now that GNB is released, there's finally a job that's 100% appropriate for the weapon, even down to the Lightning battle pose.

So, simple request for the Blazefire Saber to be made available to equip as a Gunbreaker.

It's not going to happen, they never added new FFXIII weapons for any of the other classes and Jobs that were added after the FFXIII event (like, no FFXIII weapons for ROG/NIN, DRK, AST, MCH, RDM, SAM, BLU or DNC either) - also Lightning's gunblade is nothing like a FFVIII-style gunblade that GNB uses, it's more a gun with a fold out blade.

The FFXIII event was years ago, they're simply not interested in making new gear for a long-past event I'm afraid.

Refresh my memory but Lightning equipped that weapon at her hips or was it the holster at her thigh? Either way, if that is right, then it's actually not that weird for PLD to equip it.

Nope. She wears it in a holster draped down across the back of her legs. There's no equivalent to how she carries it in FFXIV. We already have folding gunblades that go on our backs, wearing it on the hip doesn't make any sense but that was the only job that used swords at the time.

I'm not asking them to add "new weapons" (there's no equivalent for a lot of the other jobs as it is, there are no dagger users in XIII or katanas or greatswords, globes, etc). Just port the existing in-game weapon to another job. It won't happen if no one actually tries to get it, but SE has ported various other items in the past to be wearable by different races or genders or onto new jobs (Zantetsuken from PLD to both DRK and SAM).

Lightning's gunblade is a gunblade. We have a folding gunblade in the game right now that is exactly the same. Lightning is classified as a Spellblade/Gunblade user in all the official text. There is nothing anywhere that has ever said that gunblades are "VIII" style in the first place. Arguing against it is pretty asinine in the context of FFXIV's environment where we have a literal flying car from XV and however many other bizarre lore-bending items, anyways.

I don't understand why people try to beat down ideas for more variety or more lore-appropriate things. Just leave it if you want to nitpick things you're wrong about in the first place. Giving gunbreakers a literal gunblade that already exists in the game completely just like how Zantetsuken does that also got ported is not that big of a deal.

They won't touch anything from that event again, no matter how many people have been asking for Blm/Whm 1h weapons to become 2h weapons. It's better to give up on it at this point.

Considering the FF8 Gunblade and FF13 Gunblade are styled completely different, ie. the FF8 Gunblade, which is what the Gunbreaker Gunblades are based one, has a revolver handle, which offsets the straight line between the blade and handle whilst the FF13 Gunblade has them inline. If they were to just put the Blazefire Saber model onto Gunbreaker as is, it would not line up at all and SE aren't in the habit of changing models just for this.

There is also the fact the 2 styles of Gunblades work very differently, one doesn't fire projectiles and instead uses the trigger to cause more damage, the other can either slice or shoot, but never at the same time and there is no way to make the trigger cause more damage to the slicing.
