If I look at the content released for 5.1 as a pattern for future content (and it looks like 5.2 will be similar) then the future looks bleak for the more casual players:
    • 24 man raid: content you usuall run only once or twice a week for the coin and maybe the glamor piece of the week
    • Ex trial: a trial so overtuned (and designed that way) that's it very, very hard to PUG it. You only needed to look at the PF during the first few weeks to see how popular that was.
    • Ultimate: favoritism content for the minority of the minority of players
    • Crafting overhaul: that was actually needed long ago
    • Ishgard restauration: a 2 week one-trick pony that only is used for leveling crafters now
    • PvP: you only need to look at the queues to see how popular that content is
    • BLU stuff: another throw-away piece of content. I can gurantee you that in 4 weeks you will never find other players to complete your spell book unless you pester your friends.

People keep bringing this up yet I see no mention of two trials anywhere. Just the standard Normal and Extreme for Ruby Weapon.

How is that any different than practically every piece of casual content? People typically only do dungeons until they cap. And if they only have interest in say, melee DPS or tanks. They have zero reason to cap once those jobs are geared.

Welcome to pugs. They always struggle. Hades is no more difficult than Shinryu, Tsukiyomi or most other in between Primals. He's intended to be a bridge between E1S and E2S hence why he drops a i465 weapon.

You mean content designed after they significantly reduced the difficulty of Savage, thus taking away content from raiders. Bear in mind, not only is that "favoritism content" made almost entirely with reused assets, it also garnered the most interest on Twitch this game has ever seen in its six year history.

Ishgard restauration: a 2 week one-trick pony that only is used for leveling crafters now
Here I agree. While Ishgard Restoration was a neat idea. The fact we could complete it so quickly was disappointing. But FFXIV has always lacked when it comes to content longevity.

The rest I can also agree on, though I hear Blue Mage is better received than the 4.5 iteration. Granted, that wasn't a high bar to top.

    Taken from this post:

A new Chronicles of a New Era Quest series, The Sorrow of Werlyt will be added. This is comparable to the Four Lords series in Stormblood. The tentatively named The Ruby Weapon and The Ruby Weapon (Extreme) trials will be added as part of The Sorrow of Werlyt.

We're also introducing one another trial separate from The Sorrow of Werlyt; however, it'll be a huge spoiler, so we have no plans to reveal this beforehand. Please check it out yourself!
