I used to be in a raiding group in another game several years ago. We had faaaaarrr fewer dungeons (probably no more than a dozen), but we ran them repeatedly just for fun and just to help others get gear, even if the people weren't in our "FC" (different game, different terminology). Sometimes some of us would gather with people from other groups and we'd do a raid and occasionally fail in a spectacular way. Sometimes we'd enter a dungeon purposefully not having looked up the mechanics just to see what would happen. We had naked raids, drunk raids, and raids where we all played the same class. We raided for fun more than anything else.

But the community here seems very different. I'm not near raiding level but just from reading the forums it seems most people here treat dungeons as a necessity, not something that's done for fun, and that's unfortunate. When you enter an instance with the only expectation being that you'll enjoy your time, and you don't care about rushing through or getting this or that as loot, it's much more enjoyable. As soon as there are expectations of loot or XP, an instance takes on a different meaning.
