Well, its harder content. If you choose to ignore it because its older thats on you.We do maps, but I wouldn't exactly call those challenging or engaging, likely even less so than the dungeons. It's random as to if we'll even find them in the first place, progression inside of them is random, and the only bosses in them are on the bottom floors. If Shadowbringer's maps are different, I wouldn't know, as our luck hasn't allowed us to progress past floor 3.
PotD and HoH are old content where our jobs' abilities would be more limited and thus less fun to play. I'm sure eventually Shadowbringers will get a deep dungeon, but it's not there right now.
Additionally deep dungeon requires all four of us to be present and that's not always possible, usually we're running a man down, which the duty finder makes up for.
I'm not discrediting it as valuable content, I'm pointing out that it's old and less interesting. We need all four of us to be present, which isn't always possible. Progression is also desynced from progression elsewhere in the game, which one of our players doesn't like because he thinks it makes his gear feel pointless.
I am looking forward to Shadowbringers deep dungeon but frankly it's a bit rude to suggest that. How would you like it if I told you to just go back and do Alexander if they decided not to add a new raid? I mean it's there and challenging and you can sync down to it.
I'd be all for it actually, i never completed it when it was relevant, my static broke on A2SI'm not discrediting it as valuable content, I'm pointing out that it's old and less interesting. Also, his gear kind of IS pointless in this game. Unless you do raids, and even then, gear only helps, skill is whats needed.
I've never had the time or inclination to join, form, or participate in statics, so I'm in the same boat somewhat. Being locked out of a large swathe of content because it required statics or the like was hugely demotivating for me in other MMO's, and was often the reason I ended up disengaging until the next lot of story content dropped. The fact that FFXIV lets me, at endgame, jump in for an hour or two, fire up duty finder, and actually accomplish something is a big part of why I keep my sub active. If the static/BA approach becomes the way to progress in the game then... I guess I'll be an xpac-and-dash player once again.Going to throw out a civil protest about the decision to make less dungeons.
I am fully aware that a large portion of the player base doesn't enjoy them and considers them a chore, and I also admit that they aren't particularly challenging. However, I have no desire to join a static due to having been burnt out on the raiding process when I played World of Warcraft. I enjoy PUGing the trials, but once I get the weapons I want from them, I have no reason to return.
I am part of a small group of friends who play this game to chill and spend time with each other and dungeons so far have suited us perfectly. We enjoy collecting the various tomestone gear sets and it gives us something to do every night. We were friends before FFXIV and we have our own guild and house which we share. This decision will more than likely cause us to become bored and leave, as the game no longer offers any content for us.
If the developers believe that allocating resources elsewhere is best for the long-term health of the game, I would respectfully request they look into what they can do to provide more 4-man content. To my knowledge, dungeons are the only kind of content in the game for end-game which does not require at least 8 people.
Maps are more RNG than a challenge, though. POTD and HOH are pretty fun, though I struggle to find people to do it with. The higher floors also take a while to reach so the first portion is just rushing through to reach the point where it requires planning.
Personally I'd love to see more 4 man content that is tough outright and can be queued for.
I imagine it wouldn't just be a mount, but something that could be used within town areas. Maybe its a walk emote like I've always wanted, where you can change how you walk around or holding something while walking.
Clearly they meant Umbrella Corporation, confirming a Resident Evil crossover!
But seriously, "umbrellas" do not take up the same resources that dungeons do. Whatever dungeon resources are being shifted to, I'm excited to find out! As long as it's not Eureka (or anything remotely resembling it) again.
Could be like some mmo's where if it starts raining your character pulls umbrella out and uses it.
But they are adding new raid, and new trial, and new dungeon, and maybe other content as well.
Why is this a concern? Tomestone has always been the main way to progress in this game. All other ways are alternatives.
