The 5.2 dungeon looks like it'll be a lore bomb

It's called Anamnesis Anyder and is set in Amaurot. The definition of anamnesis is "the remembering of things from a supposed previous existence (often used with reference to Platonic philosophy)." With that plus the title of the patch being "Echoes of a Fallem Star" I think we are definitely going to be learning about the WoL's past as an Ancient here.

Imma need about 2 expansions exploring recreated Amaurot, or time travel to it. About 360 msqs per expansion dealing with it, 2 jobs inspired by amaurot, 50 dungeons, 100 8 mans, and 30 24 mans. All focused on Amaurot c:

I'm serious to I'd die for that but yes it's unrealistic

I just adore it so much and we've only seen a itty bitty chunk lol. Hopefully we do focus on amaurot for a bit of the quests before ruby weapon. I'd be sad if it just unlocks because "There's probably something importent in there for reasons so let's just explore it " without any build up.

We could possible use the crystal tower to go back in time to amaurot tho... >__>

Maybe our Echo will enhance and it allows us to have more instances like Estenien's flashback/gameplay. One dungeon a patch could be entire recreations that other people can temporarily see and experience with us.

But that's my tinfoil hat talking.

It's also possible - instead or as a double-meaning - that the "fallen star" (fallen world?) is the Thirteenth, since we'll be getting the second instalment of the Eden / Oracle of Darkness storyline.

Or is "fallen star" more literal, a meteorite? (The 1.0 lore IIRC that people were awakened to the Echo by a meteor shower?)

What's the Japanese version of the title? Do we have the same double meanings: echoes / the Echo, "fallen" both meaning literally falling from a height or something once great, now lost-or-degraded?

It was specifically said in the LL that the "Echoes" in the patch title is a direct reference to the "Echo" term in the English version of FFXIV.

It was also revealed that the dev code name for the Anamnesis Anyder was "Ascian's Official Residence". So take that how you will.

The dungeon itself - the part with hallways, loot and 3 bosses - probably can't be an Echo, for the simple reason that our Trusts are coming along.
Unless we *can* bring them into an Echo vision ... which would be even more interesting...

Well we did just get a power upgrade by fusing with the 1st WoL.. maybe our echo powers will grow with each WoL combined within ourself..

This also has me wondering then with the disagreement between players about us having Cid's goggles during the garuda fight.. since we have basically been confimed to be of the same race as the Amurot people.. maybe we did make his goggles outta Aether without realizing it..

If anything like that, it might be a "here and now" place that triggers Echo-visions for us but the others can't see the visions.

I very much doubt we will be fusing with the rest of our soul-shards. There are two ways that happens: we fail to stop the Ascians from rejoining more shards, or we travel there (highly difficult in itself) and force a probably-living person to give up their life so we can get a power boost. Ardbert was a special case.

For what it's worth, the illustration for the side story with young Cid and Nero shows that Cid already has his goggles then.

Perhaps this is the dungeon where we'll find out what office the 14th held.

Here is a Kanji breakdown to help understand it some.

    追 (tsui/o.u) means pursue, meanwhile, chase/drive away
憶 (oku) means remember, think, recollection
And combined 追憶 is Tsuioku a noun meaning recollection or reminiscence, a noun that needs to take the particle の, notice it's used in the title.
凶 (kyou) means disaster, evil, villian, back luck, and is used in compounds to make words like villuanous, atrocities, bad harvest etc. The kanji alone means bad luck/fortune
星 (hoshi) is star, dot, mark, spot. The kanji alone meaning star or any light emitting heavenly body, besides the sun and moon.

Combining all of this I don't think the title is referencing the Thirteenth, but rather the original Star we know as Hydaelyn now. The title does work for both though, since it translates to "Recollection of an Unfortunate Star/Planet". But since the dungeon is from Amaurot, which is from the original star, and acts as a museum for anyone to learn and reminisce about, it makes a bit more sense. While we do know of some individuals from the Thirteenth, they are from side content and might become spoilers if SE just throws them at us now. Even when 5.0 was launching, they emphasized doing the Crystal Tower to avoid spoilers.

Don't forget that the original Amaurot dungeon is basically an echo flashback as well.
