The omega raids are indeed canon... it even changes lore for the whole series. SO SPOLIERS BECAUSE IDK HOW TO DO THE COMMAND YOU BEEN WARNED

If you played attention to cutscenes it's told how thoughout the history of shinryu and omega's rivalry, shinryu was all this time actually midgarsormor. So whenever shinryu first appears with omega? Whatever title it was that's midgard. Dragons also never existed in xiv's world natively. They started to pop up when during one encounter midgard was wounded heavily, and retreated by traveling the rift and making a deal with hydaelyn for sanctuary. Omega can also traval the rift... so omega does eventually follow midgard to hydaelyn.

Now cid an crew initially believed omega was allagan tech but no it's not. This is why you fight recreations of ff bosses lore wise, because you YOU and everyone else kefka, exdearh. They are merely legends. However to omega? It's been in every ff where the bosses are from, so it's literally recreating these "myths" from its recorded data on them.

While xiv does use a lot of fan service you have to pay really close attention to what's just fan service, and what's actually canon to xiv. Plus Gilgamesh can traval between worlds and while there was debate on if xiv's was the canon gilga, we later do learn yes he is infact the same rift traveling gilgamesh.

Hope that helps clear things up for anyone who might have skipped or just barely read the omega cutsnene dialog.

Also, Omega was a part of the MSQ - Does that make the Omega raids Canon? Nope. Thus far the only canonical raid is Coils - Eden might be, but we'll have to see after all the tiers are out.
Now now, us long time fans of FF7 are finally getting our due after being screwed over during Stormblood.. using FF4 5 and 6 bosses and then completely skipping 7 for the final act.. it's about time we had a full on trial set for FF7.

Plus don't forget about the Remaking that's suppose to be out next year too

Guess we should prepare for Emerald Weapon and Diamond Weapon as well.

I wonder if Jade Weapon is well-known enough to be referenced.
Jade Weapon will most likely be known only by FF7 Hardcore Fans or those able to understand japanese which played the japan only FF7 handy game where Jade Weapon plays a role in the Wutai War between Midgar and Wutai

It played never a role in the original game, nor even got mentioned.
The partwise huge information gaps between the original and the several spinoff games are a reason, why most of all FF7 fans are hoping that SE fills up the remake with as much lore and content from the spinoffs DoC, BC, CC and even for its end AC, so the the game will become the lore richest experience of the 7er universe you can think of, when Se plans on making each chapter a full standalone game worth around 60h, then theres alot of space to fill with lore, especially within the Midgar section.

That are easy lore fillers that Se just needs to reuse for the remake to ensure a good start, before they have to begin to come up with total new stuff, first implement the things you alheady have to explain things better and improve that way for the remake the overall storytelling of the game by alot

But the Jade Weapon is the first weapon to activate and the first that got destroyed. Judging by the way these raid series work, I predict that we will get FOUR weapons. Ruby, Emerald, Diamond, and Sapphire. Jade will most likely get left behind unfortunately, but just like Omega I COULD see Jade appearing in the future separately. Hell I doubt it, but it could be the other secret trial for all we know. Though my expectations are that Jade will probably just end up a reference somewhere or an enemy during 6.x.

These would be the trial series, which should showcase three weapons. A fourth and a fifth weapon might still be seen as well, but most likely not for a trial.

I'm not surprised we're getting this. Any technological enemy from any Final Fantasy can easily be replicated in this game by just saying "allagans and/or garleans made it."

I have a feeling the secret trial they mentioned is part of the main story. It's most likely that trial will have a dragon mount and ruby weapon will have a garlean related mount for the extremes respectively.

The only fights that could really be considered "non Canon" would be Minstrel's Ballad fights which are specifically tall tales. Unless specifically stated otherwise, there's no reason to not accept most events in game as Canon. More specifically, nothing in Omega nor Alexander contradicts other Canon and as brought up, elements from both are involved in the Twinning.

As far as "Alexander exists whether we interacted with him or not..." The timeline where we interacted with him and stopped the Illuminati is the timeline he chose. If we never appeared to stop the Illuminati well... "Canon" becomes the least of our worries since we'd have a goblin army running around in a mobile fortress doubling as a time God lol

TL;Dr it's strange to claim only Bahamut raids are canon and to have one throwaway line as evidence, but then turn around and refute an entire dungeon dedicated to Alex and Omega as evidence that the other tiers are likewise canon.

I also forgot to add in my previous post since someone is questioning if the raids are canon or not... The Encyclopedia Eorzea Volumes 1 and 2 would like to chime in and say "Ello'! Please read me before saying what is and isn't canon. Because right here with in my pages are lore information on all the raids..."

Seeing as I'm not at home yet I cant direct you to exactly which book they are in for all of them but I can 100% confirm without a doubt that the Omega Raid is mentioned in Volume 2. When I get home I'll edit this post with pages and books. Omega is talked about in the Omega Records page 64 -68 volume 2 Encyclopedia Eorzea. Alexander is mentioned on 258 volume 1 and page 201 talks about NOAH and the CT.
