Mats needed to level DoH jobs?

Has anyone seen a list of how many of which mats to level all the DoH jobs?
I'm annoyed with trying to plan ahead using the crafting log, only to have to visit the same places over and over with BTN / MIN to gather more stuff. If I need 10000 Iron Ore, I'd like to just spend the time to get it all at once rather than travel back and forth. Since Iron items keep showing up later in the log, where I can't see, trying to get all the Iron I need the first time doesn't work. And of course Steel is made from Iron too.
Back a while ago when I was crafting in an unnamed MMO, there were pages that lead you through the process:
    1. Gather 405 iron ore.
    2. Make 202 iron ingots.
    3. Make item 1, make 3 item 3's cause you'll need 'em later
    4. Bla, bla bla.
One pass through a "program" like this and you are to level 50 or 100 or whatever with that Profession.Has some patient and helpful person put such a "program" together for FFXIV DoH jobs?
I get the Craft Log is a great program, actually. But getting the totals of mats to gather is a lot of work, esp since you can't see the whole thing as you go. Just a total of Mats, and intermediates - like Iron Rings, and Steel Ingots - sure would help.
    Thanks, wg

Probably not, since crafting the entire log is more exp than you'll need. Additionally, leves, GC turn-ins, beast tribes, collectible turn-ins, custom deliveries, all offer better and (in some cases) easier sources to level. Also probably there'd be some inventory troubles if you tried holding onto all the mats you'd ever need for every craft.

I just rented a couple of extra retainers for a few weeks until I level my professions to 80. I'm finding that the base bags and armory are fine as I level all but CUL and FSH. But at 50 I notice that the DoH/DoL gear becomes job specific rather than generic, so I may have issues at that point with the Armory.
Using the Log rather than Leves and other things you mention requires a lot less running around, except for the trips to farm. Leves are nice to pick up Ventures tho, as are GC Seals, but managing gear for a retainer is a pain since there is no "Recommended Gear" button. If I'm gonna wait an hour on a venture sure would be nice to come back with more than 15 or 20 of something. How about 50 or 99? LOL I'm way quicker at farming than the retainer, and since nobody can see the Retainer, it's not even useful for Eye Candy Bragging rights. Most of the jobs are past 30 now and gil is about even when I started, so that's useful. It will be interesting to see how that holds out.

The 53 set (Rainbow-something I believe?) is vastly superior to the 50 set in all regards and can be worn by all classes.

Try use garlandtools site. You add items in your crafting list, toggle between different crafting mode to see which item make which, the total of different stuff you need in the craft list plus where to get them etc.

Ah yes. I found that a while ago. The Mat maps at ffxivteamcraft are very useful. Also Garlandtools links to a crafting simulator that I'm itching to try. The simulator appears to make crafting macros. Can't wait to see how well it optimizes crafting of items.

It sounds like you're trying to combine the goals of crafting log completion and also leveling. The former by itself is sufficient to level the associated class, but is not the most efficient.

To figure out the amount of mats you would need to complete the logs up to max level of even one crafting class would be a lot of work one way or the other (either you doing it, or someone writing a program that does it for you). Even then, I don't know if you would be able to entirely avoid having to make a grocery list for raw mats. The amount of time it takes to make these lists is nowhere near as long as it is to actually gather and craft your wares, but I do get trying to shave off what you can.

As you complete every tier of logs, you will notice which raw mats show up more than others. It gives you a good idea which ones to hold onto in mass quantities, and which ones to send your retainers after. The crafting trees and raw materials lists are helpful, but I still find it much faster to use an outside source to get my list of raw materials for large crafting sessions.

To give myself piece of mind, I would gather everything I needed in five level increments and then take a break after all the crafting was done and turned in (clearing your inventory of all the stuff your crafting is also a very time consuming process if you want to make gil from it). I would also split up the crafting classes much like how it is done in the Mean (CUL/ALC, GSM/BSM/ARM, LTW/WVR/CRP).

This road is the one I chose as well and is like trying to burn fat and build muscle at the same time. The rate of progress is like molasses, but it's steady and keeps you busy. I also find it much more sustainable over the long term because it simply becomes what you do in your day to day activity.

As a side note, keep in mind that some raw mats like iron ore can be purchased from NPC vendors, and I recommend that to gathering to save time. When choosing the molasses route, you tend to have more gil than you know what to do with anyway.

Crafting the log is pretty much a waste of time and mats now. Its good for the worst glowy mainhands youll get (they only glow when you're crafting an item that uses that specific tool, not when held), but for XP, you're best just grinding off ingots/lumber/nuggets/ect and the few things you can use for ishgard turnins with a manual going, and then do any of the the other options.

GC turnins give bonkers amounts of XP (can be 3 levels worth, and then theres leves, collectables, ishgard collectables and beast tribes.

The only crafting I did to level was that required for quests, such as job quests, beast tribes, Leves, and finally, Ishgard Restoration, which completed it all.
The XP from just making things isn't worth the time if you gather your own materials, or the gil if you buy them.

If I was leveling crafting now, I'd just do the Ishgard turn-in's The mats are easy to gather, and you don't have to HQ stuff like you do for many quests.
