I don't understand why people have issues with the Alliance Roulette as it is. It's a levelling/tomes tool, people run it to get XP to level or to upgrade gear. I sigh if I get Sastasha in levelling dungeon roulette, but I put up with it because it was always going to have a chance of being the one I got. Likewise if I opt to do the alliance roulette. If I want to do a specific raid, I queue for that raid. If I want to do any raid except CT, I'll queue for a bunch in one go.

This is a ROULETTE with extra rewards to encourage you to go to help new players complete content. The more they split it into parts, especially if they increase rewards for one part over others, the less chance people have to get completion on the less popular part. You get the nice shinies to reward you for putting up with whichever option pops up.

Yes some people are (allegedly) cheesing the system. But any changes of the kinds being suggested here would reduce the pool of available helpers for new players.

I'm not violently anti any changes being made - I rarely do alliance roulette - but it does seem to me that these changes skew the balance in favour of the roulette runners who are already being rewarded for going and should therefore accept that they get whatever raid pops, rather than the new players it's designed to help

I have no problem with helping new players out, in fact I like going back to old dungeons and doing exactly that. But I'd like to help them through their first time through Void Ark and Ivalice as well, not just CT every. single. time. And that's why it's really not comparable to, say, the levelling roulette, because while you might get a dungeon you don't like there, you are virtually guaranteed to get CT every time in the Alliance roulette—in fact, I would question the term 'Alliance roulette' being applicable in the first place, since it is really a CT roulette, and a CT roulette alone.

Also why is this 'help' being doled out for the CT alone? I have still yet to complete all of the Coils, and the Normal Raid roulette dumps you in Alexander every time instead of helping out new players with the first Normal raid series in the game. The system feels broken.

What would be your thoughts about the leveling roulette if you always got Sastasha, Tam Tara, or Copperbell Mines? Because that is what the playerbase is currently dealing with when it comes to Alliance Raid roulette. Even if a player could cheese the leveling roulette so this happens, they don't because getting through the beginner dungeons really isn't any shorter or less cumbersome than the recent ones. However because over half of your toolkit will be pruned, the boredom in those 15 minutes make the run seem like 45 minutes.

This is an exploit. An exploit in the realm of mmos means that players are reaping a benefit that was not intended for them to have. One could argue with that statement by saying that participants in the roulette are already entitled to the rewards. However, the roulette rewards are based on several factors that include all the instances that are in the roulette. That entitlement goes away when you cheat the system and other players out of 66% of the possible instances to get in the roulette.

All it takes is one player to boot. So one selfish player can potentially cheat 23 others out of more engaging gameplay that doesn't make alliance raids a snorefest. One player alone should not have that kind of power. Believe it or not, there are plenty of players who would gladly take a 45 minute Orbonne run to a 15 minute CT raid simply because it's more fun and requires attentiveness.

This is a ROULETTE with extra rewards to encourage you to go to help new players complete content.
If you need to complete any alliance raid outside of CT or Copied Factory, I hope you packed a lunch; you're going to need it. You can expect a queue time of well over an hour regardless of role. I think I've only got Orbonne once in roulette since ShB release. It has got to be an absolute nightmare for players to clear the HW and now the SB alliance raids. I've even seen some desperate attempts in party finder.

There is no "allegedly". Players ARE cheating the system. The reduction to players willing to help new players is moot because those nice and helpful players are also at the mercy of the roulette, and whichever d-bag decides to reduce their ilv.
