Black Screen when exiting game???

Since downloading the patch today, if the game crashes or I exit the good old fashioned way, the whole thing goes black. Now I can Ctrl + Alt + Delete and hit task manager but as soon as I do and it tries to open to the desktop...black. Music etc on in the back ground keeps going but FFXIV just sits in the way as a huge, irritating void.

Anyone run into this since patch? Never had anything like this before. Usually its just fighting the Direct X 11 errors but now if one of those happens I have to fully hard reboot my whole computer just to get anywhere.

Is there an error message that appears when the crash happens? If so, could you provide a screen shot in your next reply? Does Final Fantasy XIV crash only when you are exiting from the program? Do you experience this crash anywhere else? Additionally, what trouble shooting have you tried to alleviate the issue?

The black screen only occurs upon exiting. My work around currently is to make sure my task manager is set to 'always be on top' so I can force quit it. Essentially seems like the game goes unresponsive as soon as it tries to close, whether that is from DC or the much loathed Direct X 11 errors. There is no error message for the black screen itself. It is simply solid black until I open task manager. At which point I can see the 'unresponsive' note on the program itself.

Can you submit a Final Fantasy XIV system report? Simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.'

I have been having the same issue, whenever i try to log out, i get black screen, no error message or anything. Just the black screen, till i open task manager and close it do i get the forced close window.
