I wouldn't be against of that solution personally, but they did what they did. And until now they never gave an option to choose how item will look except it's a head, so I doubt they are going to do it anytime soon... if ever.

About Lalafell head clipping though: I wonder if people reported it often enough to them notice it? They probably fixed bottom exactly because it's popular, so when problem occured people bothered enough to write report about this. I mean... ideally, one report should be pretty much enough for them to look into bug, but I think we all understand that it's not how it works, sadly.
