How are "active members" defined in the lodestone?

In the lodestone's info for each FC there's a count for "active members." Does anyone know how this is defined? Is it the number of players that have signed on in the past x days?

I didn't see any other place to ask this.

Active is a bad use of the term on the Lodestone.
I believe it's just their total enrollment. It seems to match my FCs count, even though a good many have been idle for almost a year now.

Active members are simply all the members the FC has at the moment - the description is a bit missleading, because acivity isnt being tracked at all. Ones someone is a member of an FC, they're counted as an "active member" as far as the lodestone is concerned, even if they dont log in for the next 3 years.

The german lodestone is less missleading here, simply stating "Number of members".

Odd. I wonder why the German version has different wording. It indeed does have a different connotation.
