How would you describe your server?

I'm curious about play styles on servers and data centers as I doubt it's a perfectly even distribution, so here go some questions to try to shed some light on this. Answer any or all or none.

- What server (and data center) do you mostly play on?
- Would you say your server has more of a hardcore, casual, or RP emphasis? Or a combination of both? Or something else? Or is that not possible to tell?
- Do some servers (or data centers) have a reputation for leaning toward one of those 3 categories?
- Did you join a server because you thought it leaned toward one of those 3? If yes, was it what you expected?

Of course it may be that it's impossible to tell if a server in general leans one way or another. The data SE has in it's databases would be able to tell you how many matching words (such as 'extreme' or 'relaxed) are in the FC descriptions, and they can probably do their analytical stuff and say how many people from FCs with x players finished y raids, but the data won't really give you a feel for the community. Hence the questions out of curiosity.

You'd think, with the server being congested you'd run into more people in DF, but I rarely see others from Mateus and when I do, its usually cringe-worthy.

Behemoth, I'd say its about as casual as the other servers. Maybe a little more so, as BR, NZ and Aus congregate there, and we have bad ping.

Actually, I like Balmung, the people are friendly here, and I've made lots of friends too... I just make a point of avoiding Ul'dah, and especially the Quicksand, at all costs. I value my sanity too much.

I was in the zone for the fate that finished ishgard restoration in its current state. Listening to that chat for about 90 mins when it was just people from our server... i gotta say this kinda sums up Lamia fairly well.

I'm not really sure, honestly. I'm still pretty new to the server and have only played on it actively for about a month now (but in total, i moved over during free transfer). I've only seen a small handful of people RP, but there is an acting troupe that I got to see perform (and that was amazing). Can't comment on whether it's hardcore or casual. Thus far, I've found the players here to be very pleasant and welcoming. I've seen people joke around and have fun. There have been some dancing lines in town. During one of my quests when SHB first came out, someone actually invited me to party to give me a lift to the next quest (we were on the same quest), which never happened to me on any other server. In general, people will help each other out with mobs and such.

Some in Crystal definitely lean towards RP/casual, I think. One of my friends in Aether considers Crystal to be the "artsy" server while Aether is the raiding server. I went over to Crystal for the gil SE was promising if we transfered & because I was unhappy with my at-the-time server. People there seemed to stir up drama for the sake of having drama and I went through FCs faster than I ever had before I moved to that particular server because drama typically killed them... So, the unhappiness + gil + free were the main motivators.

Newp, I knew nothing about Diabolos. I picked Diabolos simply because FF8 Diabolos reminds me of one of my RP characters. However, I'm very glad I chose this server. I really like it and the people in it thus far.

On a side note: the wanderers who happen into Diabolos have been very friendly, too.
