Buying a CE is different than preordering it though.
Perhaps the people who only want the game on its own are care not for bonus items is small, maybe not. But regardless, it'll defeat the purpose of the preorder bonus items entirely if they're given out another way.

Tell that to mass effect 2.

Nothing of value is lost when a preorder bonus is sold later.

You can get digital collectors edition items far after the collectors edition is not being made or sold anymore, doesn't really make them collectors anymore, does it? So why should a pre order bonus be held in a higher regard?

Besides, whats wrong with exclusivity? these earrings are something that anyone playing the game should have, since you know, pre-ordering costs nothing and you clearly like teh game since you are playing.

If you are new, you don't really need the item, you should be going through content that will level you up as you go. Personally, i think they should stop giving out exp items as a pre-order bonus altogether, it takes no time at all to level anymore as it is.

You still can; from other people, but yes, I'm talking about the digital ones.

There's nothing wrong it exclusivity in places, I just always thought it was dumb that in FFXIV pre order bonus items are these precious gems but collectors edition bonus items are somehow not, it never made any sense. I think they should both just be purchasable after the fact at some point, because ultimately what is the loss except for the babies handful of players that pre-ordered purely for the bonus item?

Personally I wouldn't care if the preorder bonus stuff was sold at some point, and I say this as someone who hasn't passed on any of those bonuses yet. Sure, they might lose a little bit of their luster, but in the end it doesn't affect me much. That said, I'm also not opposed to keeping them exclusive.

Personally I want the "initial run" items to be obtainable. Kinda unfair to make something digital artificially scarce just to get people to buy asap leading to it quickly becoming sold out.

I understand giving an in game items for purchasing something physical. But makeing them limited and exclusive kinda puts people off buy something when they're all gone.
Soundtrack + minion people will buy it for the minion. Soundtrack just by itself people will just pirate it or listen on YouTube.

Also encourages "scabers" to buy most of them and sell them at 3× the price. just like people do with houses in this game.

People do this with the statues too. Buy them and sell the emote for more than the statue.

As someone who pre-ordered ShB, in large part due to the Aetheryte Earring, I support making it available through other means. Mogstation, beast tribe, scrips, a repeating event, gold saucer, something...

I assume it would be in the Mog Station, and the preorder bonus is just getting it for free.
