All those super nice Sharlayan buildings that we're destroyed. I hope SE allows us to rebuild them one day. I always wanted to :/

There are many zones that would be very nice to see restored and available for visit again... Old Sharlayan, Meracydia, destroyed parts of Twelsvewood, closed parts of Ishgard surroundings. I hope that once day we could do this all.

Old Sharlayan is the original one that's not actually destroyed. Still, I wish we can go there someday.
For real.
I would have much rather had a Sharlayan house district than being stuck to ugly Ishgard.

Technically there has been some restoration of New Sharlayan... as Idyllshire (the Cenotaph was restored to how it originally was when HW launched, and Idyllshire's footprint has been greatly expanded with the ruins that were formerly there restored to their former glory by enterprising adventurer npcs and goblins who settled there).
Either way the Sharlayans effectively abandoned the place hence Idyllshire is basically now in the hands of goblins and adventurers, and a crazy old lady in a cave. And speaking of the goblins, that's a pretty big reason why the rest of the city will never be restored, due to the Illuminati taking over some of the facilities and wrecking the buildings for materials, and it would be kind of difficult to drive them up, so firmly ingrained are they.

Agreed. The goblins are just too greedy in nature. Efforts would have to be made to not only reduce Illuminati activity, but all gobbie activity would have to be regulated. Still though, current Idyllshire is a testament for what gobbies can do when they work together instead of against, and along with others. I for one though like the Hinterlands as they are. I find the truly open and colorful areas like here and the Azim Steppe to be among the fewer.Technically there has been some restoration of New Sharlayan... as Idyllshire (the Cenotaph was restored to how it originally was when HW launched, and Idyllshire's footprint has been greatly expanded with the ruins that were formerly there restored to their former glory by enterprising adventurer npcs and goblins who settled there).

Honestly if they gave us an interesting expansion pack similar to FFXI's Wings of the Goddess which allowed us to travel to the past version of a large handful of areas, I would so be for it. It'd be an interesting way to bring back areas that existed back in 1.0 but are no longer here now because story-wise those areas were accessible before the Calamity that brought on 2.0 but became blocked off etc etc.
As a huge fan of how the FFXI dev team handled WotG, it would make me super happy to see something like that again. (Though traveling to the first is a close 2nd place.)
