Sudden framerate drops

Up until a week ago, I was able to play the game with the graphics set to High(Laptop). However, I'm suddenly getting framerate drops from 60 down to about 30 and was wondering if anyone had an idea of why that might be. Laptop specs are below. Areas are... well all over the place.

OS: Windows 10 v1909 64 bit
Processor: Intel Core i7-8750h CPU @2.2GHz
RAM: 16GB
Graphics Card: Nvidia Geforce GTX 1070

If there's any other info needed, I can grab it.

EDIT: Interesting thing to note, when I have a second monitor attached, be it extending my display or duplicating, the framerate was close to 60. Set it back to one monitor and it gets halved.

This started happening.. I wanna say about a week ago. A new Geforce driver update occurred. Earlier today, DirectX was altered as well due to a new game install.

Only one graphics card. No issues before now. Adjusted power settings but I don't know if that will do much.

I normally play in windowed mode, however the issues occurred in both windowed and full screen. In order to avoid any issues with overworking my gpu, I also capped it at 60. When I attempted to cap it to 30, it dropped down to 15 frames a second. Uncapping it entirely did nothing.

Adding a bit of information that was tested yesterday after the initial responses: I have also tested games that are just as intensive if not more and put them to high settings. One is just plain intensive on the computer, the other is intensive due to poor optimization by the devs, and the third is intensive due to its engine just being terrible and usually causing crashes and stuttering. All of them ran to their usual specifications and on the settings they were normally at(I usually set them for high performance as this laptop can handle it). Whatever is causing this issue, I'm not certain if it's on my computers end.

I have also tested the following: rolling back the directX change through a system restore. Complete reinstall of the game(done during a time where I couldn't play anyways, so I figured why not), reinstall of graphical drivers(not full reinstall).

Gonna be trying an uninstall and reinstall of my graphical drivers shortly.

I believe I've found the cause of the issue... and I'm kinda annoyed. I rolled back from 441.41 for the Nvidia driver to 441.20. Everything, and I mean everything, is back to the way it was before. Something Nvidia did for their latest driver update does not play well with FFXIV.
