Bard Performance

Hi everyone!

Now that ive started playing around with my bard ive found out the performance skills to make music in game usng various instruments.

The thing im wondering is they give us a warning that we are not allowed to use third party songs or we could get banned.

So am i only allowed to play FF14 songs?
Can i play any ff related songs?
Can i play any square enix songs?

Im really lost and dont want to get banned for just playing music in game..

I understand all the copyrighted part, its just not clear whether or not im stuck with ff14 content or if i can use more related content to make music..

I keep seeing horrors story about ppls getting banned for playing songs not related to final fantasy so i just want to make sure..

I also made a ticket asking them but they simply replyed to me to check the faq and it gives no awnser to my questions, thanks for your time guys!

• When showing gameplay, you may not replace the FFXIV music with third party music;
• You may not play FFXIV music alone (i.e., without accompanying gameplay footage), or with third party materials;

While the above poster is technically correct, that language is mainly there for legal reasons. Realistically, they don't care. You might have to be more careful if you're uploading videos of yourself, but a quick youtube search for FFXIV performance leads to several hits of copyrighted work, and I've certainly never heard of anyone getting banned for it (though I do note that most videos have names turned off, possibly for plausible deniability, possibly just because it looks better without names). If you're just screwing around in-game, play whatever you like.

They're not going to ban legitimate players from playing whatever music in game, unless there's external legal pressure to do so.

Thanks a lot for the feedback, there will be no recording at all, im just messing in game with the piano and having fun trying to play songs that i know of.
