If you've not spent a single one for the past year, why exactly do you need an additional 8,000?
Rather than raising the cap, I'd honestly just want more use from them. Poetics are largely a do-nothing currency at this point, add some new purpose to them.
I just buy Demicrystals and sell them to a vendor whenever I pick up a new Wondrous Tails.
Well, right now I'm getting Augmented Shire caster gear ready for the Blue Mage update. But otherwise, vendor trash.
I use my poetics to get grade 3 soil for gardening now that I have every piece of gear I care about bought and upgraded (including the only hw relic I really care about)Eh. If you're constantly capping, chances are you don't really have a great immediate need for them to begin with. It's a "use it or lose it" situation either way. Personally, I really don't care all that much about being capped. Occasionally I'll burn them down on something, but it's never anything I really need. So, capped or not, they're still just going to sit there.
For me at least it's not about immediate need... it's about the convenience of not needing to run to Idyllshire every five minutes because I'm getting poetics faster than I can spend them :P
Pretty much this. I don't have much need for gear, aside from when I start leveling Tanks and need to grab the 70 SB gear before going onto ShB's, but I do try to buy and resell the materials for some steady profit. It's just that doing any amount of daily roulettes ensures you get capped faster than things tend to sell, even if you vary what you're buying. A small increase in the cap wouldn't be remiss just so it doesn't feel like a constant losing battle to keep from going over the cap and wasting whatever Poetics are left over in the process.I use my poetics to get grade 3 soil for gardening now that I have every piece of gear I care about bought and upgraded (including the only hw relic I really care about)

I do agree however that it'd also be nice if Poetics had more varied uses going forward aside from old mats and gear. Even if it's a minor 'hey you have 2000 poetics? here's 50/100 goetia' or some other trade system that could be used for the current tomestone tier. One that would have to be fair and acknowledge how easy Poetics are to gain, so the two currencies should never be even remotely one to one in terms of value.
Exactly. It doesn't have to be an either/or. Having a higher Poetics cap would be helpful if for nothing other than convenience, and more things to actually do with Poetics would be great too.Pretty much this. I support this (or at least double the amount of it). You get them often, thus they can easily reach the limit..which means that you loose a lot of them along the way. When I was powering through leveling the jobs I reached that limit quite often...because I had no time for maps I bought other stuff with it. Now when I need it to get all the maps for the relics I am missing those lost and "sold" ones quite a bit.
4k is reasonable, in order to get a full set of augmented gear just when you are leveling other jobs and you reach the next tier, without the hassle of half-gearing and then update a piece at time for everything you still missed.
Helpful and not game breaking.
At least in the case of poetics, I don't understand why they even bother having a cap in the first place.
The only reasoning I can think of is that since the middle tome (currently Goetia) eventually gets phased out, they don't want people stockpiling that particular currency when it comes time to convert. And since that tome has a 2000 lock, it's just easier for them to apply it to poetics as well.
#freepoetics
I'd be all in favor of a higher cap given how they are rewarded from everything from previous xpacs, i'd say 5k is appropriate.
It's enough to get a full set of gear for those that need to when hitting 70 so they can have bis until level 75, then with those of us that do not need gear it means not having to go buy demicrystals constantly just to stop capping out since half the time you can exceed the 2k just from doing full roulette run. Take main scenario 300 from the roulette 200 dungeon reward, thats quarter of your cap right there.
I'd say either 4K or 5K is a good cap, especially as more and more expansions get added.
Honestly at this point they should really raise it just because of the Anima quests because some yahoo at SE decided to only have umbrite be bought with poetics and it's the biggest bottleneck for anyone running the anima weapons.
