Is this a thing now?? Regens in mid-pulls?

Hello folks, and I'm sorry to Moderators if this isn't the right sub-forum to ask/discuss about this topic.

I've been a player since wwLaunch of 2.0 ARR...
My 2 mains are WHM and PLD. WHM was my first job to level.
While it was a pretty straight forward and easily understandable class, other players always give me hints and tips.
Do's and Don'ts. When to, and when not to.

    Then, I switched to PLD.
While I have a harder time with this in ARR, I still stuck to it and it made me be a better Tank for Healers due to Cross Class Skill features.

((CCS? WHAT IS THAT?! YOU HELLA OLD, OP.))

    But anyways...
One of the tips I got as a healer is to never, ever, regen during mid-pulls.

((I learned this the hard way when we had to grind CM and WP days for tome gear. I remember those speed run days like it was yesterday.))

Fast forwarding to the present time and ShB, I noticed that a lot of WHM's and AST in Diurnal Sect would put regens on tanks in mid-pulls.
While I kindly suggest not to do so, but to apply shields or do big cast heals in between pulls, some players don't take it very seriously, don't understand, or gets very offended.

    Responses such as,
"Dude, chill. It's not going to kill me. Just pull more."
"Just shut up, you don't know anything."
"So? Does it matter? I didn't die yet."
"I thought they took that feature away?"
"The skills didn't say to not do it that way."
    "Are you sure?"

To me, if the regen ticks while I pull, and for some odd reason, the radius with these group didn't reach ALL, obviously, it will go to the healer.
I will need to back-track to the healer and grab it again.
However, because I am back-tracking, all the mobs I'm running away from will start to hit me, obviously.
Thus, making the healer work more, waste MP, waste more time, waste cool downs, etc etc...

And this happens to almost every dungeon I go into that has a WHM or AST in Diurnal. Sometimes its with me as a tank, sometimes it's another random player.

Because I felt that my suggestions aren't going through them, I had to think outside the box and ask myself... What makes it okay to use regen now?

Then the further question that popp'd up....

"Wait... Is this actually a thing now? Is applying regen in mid-pulls an actual okay thing to do now? Is it part of a pro-tip thing?"
So yeah, I'mma askk....Is it a thing now?
Am I supposed to let go of the old unwritten rule of no regen during mid-pulls?
I'm just trying to figure out if its just me, or if this is really a normal thing to do?

I'm probably not as experienced with running dungeons as you, but when I've run as SCH, I haven't noticed a problem.

Scholars don't have regens tho. You guys have shields. They don't tick and heal over-time.

The fairy has Regen and with the changes to pets, any aggro the pet would have gotten is now picked up by the SCH instead. Anyway as long as the tank is able to establish and keep aggro and the healer isn't running away to make it difficult, can't see it being too much of an issue.

I actually never had pet regens during my pull. Maybe because I'm always running up ahead.

Yeah, personally I find it annoying too, seems like every WHM nowadays wants to throw Regen during a pull, and when I want to go get a 2nd group, I'm seeing mobs go Orange in some cases, and they go running after the healer, then I gotta stop and re-acquire that enemy.

I remember when I could just mash Sprint and then run..

But if I have a Regen on me, I gotta use 2 AoEs to make sure I don't lose anything.

When I'm a WHM myself, I throw a Benison and then I wait until I see the tank stopping and laying down AoE before I throw the Regen.

You are absolutely right that it’s the sign of a bad or inexperienced healer, but good luck convincing them of that. I learned very early on to only use shields or instant cast heals while running along with a tank who’s in the process of pulling. Regen is a good way to disrupt the pull, and you’re still slowing the run down even if you don’t die.

Now, on the other side of that, what IS annoying as a healer is when a tank stops pulling and you think he’s done, and then he decides to keep going and pull more after you regen him.

This is what happens when you make a game easy; people get away with bad behaviour and never learn... death is the best teacher.

Casting any sort of heals mid-pull when the tank isn't on death's door is not what people are supposed to be doing. Tanks have more than enough defensive cooldowns to be able to handle themselves until they gather up all the enemies, as well as a Panic Button in case things get dangerous. Casting regen in the middle of the tank pulling helps literally no one, since it's not an instant heal and all it does is give the healer aggro.

If a healer gives you regen before you've hit all the enemies, they're a bad healer. Full stop.

Yeah shame on people just joining the game and are used too different mechanics, and here i thought the community of ffxiv was known to be helpful...

Anyway on a serious note ok lesson learned, my friend which I mainly played with and did dungeons together did not seem having too much trouble while tanking as PLD. But too see this is a bad thing to do I say thanks for the heads up, once we truly face harder content and I should not pre HoT to get slapped in the face.
