I like that idea, could be a nice alternative to gain some "wild" crafting materials whitout having to resort in mass murdering so and so beasts. In the interest of discussion: What if, instead of being combat-aimed, BST was a Disciple of the Land? The story would be focused on rediscovering and conserving species endangered or thought lost to the Calamity or other disasters. By finding their nests out in the open world, you could use a series of actions (similar to a botanist or miner manipulating their gathering rate, HQ rate, etc) to fill in a bestiary log, perhaps culminating in gaining that animal as a minion or mount. At higher levels, you could participate in an animal show of sorts, perhaps earning rewards like themed glamour gear or barding. Maybe even housing items like cages or pens to show off your favorites.
