It would probably come down to 'limited job 2' or 'some other form of side content.' Not doing blue mage wouldn't have gotten us a third job in 5.0. We'll continue to get however many new main jobs the dev team decides is feasible in the next expansion regardless.

Give us Beastmaster but without any of that limited business. I want to take my crabby patty friends to the raids!

I wish FFXI BST were just a job who did his own thing. That was when BST was at its' best. With the shift to battlefields, SE has been trying balance BST since the last decade, to no avail. There is no point in group play if the job is a shell of what it could be.
You are asking people who are bad at balancing, to balance a job they could never balance.
I prefer half of eureka content over any limited job in the universe they could come up with.

I'd rather see this implemented as a limited job so it could have it's own mechanics built into it, like actual pet-tanking.
The core game's trinity doesn't have any place now for a DPS that would be severely penalized by having their pet die in combat.
Beastmaster always overlapped with Summoner from my experience; even in the single player games. You could summon monsters that were not traditionally summons like bombs, wyverns and cockatrice or however you say it. I say that because it begs the question, do we need beastmaster? I say sure.
Beastmaster always felt like Summoner to me, but a lesser version. It leads me to believe that beastmaster may function similar to the bahamut summon, instead of walking around with the pet. In that case, beastmaster could be a group job.

Except SMN has a huge identity issue in this game, and many complaints that people aren't getting the summons they want (egi glamour?). BST would suffer these problems as well as not feeling like BST at all.Beastmaster always overlapped with Summoner from my experience; even in the single player games. That depends what you expect out of BST, "not feeling like bst" to you might be a pet job with set pets, to me BST using set monsters for each gcd/ogcd would be feeling like bst.

That is one avenue that you could take I suppose. However you haven't addressed the rest of my post, i.e. the lack of summons on SMN, the poor implementation of them, and the huge backlash towards lack of egi glamour. The implementation of SMN in this game has been a meme since ARR launched, and is not a good framework to build BST around.

Edit: Also, Yoshi P supports BST as a limited job, so I doubt your idea is the direction they want to take BST. https://youtu.be/UPh-GOdyRiA?t=5108

And it shouldn't because I don't want BST to be a SMN clone. We already have enough jobs that feel homogenized. Anyway, SMN is going at a better direction these days, and I assure you the backlash for the lack of egi glamour isn't "huge", lol. BST would fare better with that feature since all they have going is collecting random creatures like they're Pokemon. That is one avenue that you could take I suppose.
