Limited Job #2: Beastmaster

As someone who hated BLU's implementation in the game at 4.5 and now would say it's my second favorite job, making BLU a non limited job would kill what I like about it. I find that most people that gripe about BLU actually haven't dedicated a whole lot of time to it. BLU raiding in 5.1 has been more fun than any other the content this patch for me. If they just shoe horned BLU into the existing class paradigm we lose things like Missile, L5Death, Self Destruct, Diamondback and Final Sting all which significantly alter how some fights function and make them fun in a new way that only BLUs can make them. Mog Ex is a hilariously quick fight as a team full of BLUs and I love it.

Making spells 100% learn rate in a synced party really turned things around. I think the devs made an excellent choice with that QoL change and wish more people would take advantage of it.

I look forward to BST being a limited job now after 5.1 as I'm really curious to see how the devs can balance existing content around a party full of BSTs.

The OP mentioned collecting mobs; that is basically how it works in other mmo. In XI, if your pet dies, you gotta buy another or tame another. In other mmo, you simply select which pet you want to call. In WoW, you can pretty much tame anything but they shrink down to size when summoned by the player.

XI had some of the worst pet mechanics ever. Hopefully XIV follows what the OP suggested. You know how everyone walks around with a grasshopper in XI? We have to rely on them to release pets which are abundant in the wilds. We don't even have most of the families, because the pets are capped. BST is a mess in XI.

So it makes more to sense to I don't know.......Tame whats roaming the wilds instead of waiting for developers to release stuff already walking around in the game?

If it is a limited job, what is off limits? Are BST taming Spoken like the BST mobs from XI did the players? Skys the limit as a limited job. Group job, expect to see everyone walking around with crabs.

While I have no intent of playing BLU *shudders at thought of needing to do extremes*, I just want to fully support the idea behind "Disciple of Knowledge". People are conditioned to look for classifications and such so names like "Advanced Job" would, for example, imply that the job would/should be better than the others. Whereas the current "Limited" implies rather the contrary (even though it's not an entire lie given the restrictions and different level gap).

I keep wondering if the slow updates are slowly turning blue into a full job. Like could it eventually just be integrated into regular content? I don't see why not.

I think it has been said on record that it won't be integrated into the regular content at any point. The updates will continue but never to the point where you can tackle current content on BLU. I don't have a direct link to that though. I imagine we won't be getting anymore updates in the 5.x patch series (but it would be cool if we did) and the next time we can look forward to a BLU update is 6.1 with an increased cap to 70, new spells, new achievements that challenge people to try other content on BLU (Eureka maybe? I would like to try a 56 man BLU BA myself) and new Carnivale stuff.

Either way, BLU is fine as a limited job. It has its niche and turning it into a regular job kills what it does do well.

They said it wouldn't catch up to current content in 5.x, not that it would never catch up. They even said it might get two level updates in 5.x, meaning that we could get up to level 70 before 6.0 drops. Then 80 during 6.x (when the current is 90) with the potential to catch up late 6.x.

blu will remain a limited job you must adept to that as will beast master. I do want healer job I suggest medic with a dog kind like rinoa dog Angelo. it could be a Garelon job where healer ie the medic use medical and they dog to gave rare mat in battle to keep the party member alive it a new ideal but fun one

If we get new jobs added, that doesn't add more content, because you're still doing the same content, just with extra jobs to choose from.
Blue Mage has added additional content via Masked Carnivale, and a new way to run old content.

While I agree BLU is still not really a complete job, and it's content is lacking compared to 'real' jobs, it can only be improved by adding more limited jobs that share the same content. Expand Masked Carnivale to Beastmaster, add in a co-op mode so Blue Mages and Beastmasters can team up, incorporate Beastmasters into the Morbol Mount achievements, allowed them to run deep dungeons, etc.

This actually adds extra content that adding regular jobs doesn't, even if they don't have the same lifespan as regular jobs.
"But nobody plays BLU in endgame content" just like most people don't play most jobs in end game content, nobody plays every single job anyway.

If Beastmaster isn't a limited job, then it isn't a job, it's that simple. They have a hard enough time balancing THREE pets with SMN, there's no way we're getting Beastmaster as a regular job.

No more limited jobs. I'd rather see a fully fleshed out job that you can actually do something with rather than another "mini-game" limited job that was fun for all of about a minute and can't do any content.
