Part of the responsibility of running a subscription service is that when your service is degraded for a large percentage of your customers, you put out a statement to announce that you are investigating the issue. This is regardless of whether or not the issue is outside of your control. This is standard practice for -any- company that runs a subscription service. Even Blizzard, for all their faults, communicates when there are network issues affecting customers.

Going radio silent while your users are left to speculate why they are going on 3 days without reliable access to your service, is incredibly unprofessional.

Second, while this is not something that could be done quickly, the capability exists to move datacenters, change ISPs, move servers to highly reliable cloud hosting, etc, all which would change the current routing situation. I would imagine if -my- customers repeatedly experienced a routing issue every time I released a major update, I would look into moving my servers. The claim that this is something that can't be fixed is a bit ridiculous and silly. SE has a working relationship with NTT, as they own the DataCenter and the links. SE has a responsibility to push NTT to resolve this issue.

They can easily just make a notice update for the NA DC's just stating this an issue and are looking into it.

That's a big reason why people are upset, I'm sure from SE's end they don't want to take action until they have more information but with this happening on Tuesday for reset it's a very big issue as it's messing with statics and the general playerbase doing rous.

Anyone playing the game the past couple nights has dealed with this and it's no bueno when they're advertising 5.15 currently.

I am also seeing this issue. It's really frustrating since I just got out of the free period from buying the game and the expansions, and started a paid subscription. The worst part is the silence from SE. It would be nice to see them at least acknowledge there is an issue with their ISP/DC and say they are looking into it.

Did... did you read my post? Or are you just bouncing off of my post? It's strange to be accused of blaming SE when I explicitly said "I don't think this is an issue SE can do anything about."

The idea that I would have to pay money for a VPN just to be able to play when I am already paying my monthly sub, plus extras, on top of having bought the collector's editions of the game itself....well, it sucks. Especially when this was never a problem before.

I could barely even do the lvl 58 SCH quest last night - which only involved killing one mob. I froze for 30+ seconds and apparently took several AOE's the the face. I was just about dead when it unfroze. The game can't be played in that state. And the night before during a dungeon my party wiped twice because of my lag (healers + lag = bad) and I dc'd twice.

If it came down telling me I have to spend yet more money to keep playing or play late at night (which I can't cuz I work a full time job) then I honestly would have to reconsider continuing my sub. As much as I love this game I'm not willing to keep spending more and more every month when my sub should already allow me access to play without problems. Especially when there is no response from SE on the issue. Not saying anything does not inspire loyalty in your player base.

There is absolutely something SE can do about this. They can insist their ISP, whom they pay money for the internet traffic to their datacenter, fix their hardware. If this was a smaller business hosting a website that suddenly started getting complaints about customers not being able to reach their website, they would contact their ISP and complain until the issue was fixed or switch ISPs. While SE may not be able to fix the problem directly, they can lean on the people who can or switch ISPs.

Don’t have the technical specs, but I’ve also had some of the same issues. I didn’t start noticing problems until Tuesday.

    - Crafting lag... press a button and it wouldn’t complete the action for minutes at a time, then you’d get a big burst of your action and everyone else’s going off at once. (I was in Firmament at the time.) This happened so often I crashed out about 5 times that night. Same with gathering; I was gathering all Skybuilder mats if it matters, but there wasn’t a big crowd of people around me in any location. And it kept happening Wednesday, though not as often. Accessing retainers, menders and any kind of similar menu would also lag to load.

    - Not always more stable “later in the evening.” Just did a 1am Copied Factory Run and crashed out 3 times. The disturbing part of these crashes was that my entire screen would go black and I would not even be able to navigate to my desktop until the game fully crashed. Able to login again, with no message that my character wasn’t properly logged out either.

    - After logging back in, I would have the same black screen crash any time I tried to teleport, including just going from Lower to Upper Decks in Limsa. Three more of these hard crashes before I could get to the inn room and properly log out.

I assumed it was my crappy internet, but watched my modem as the crashes continued and my internet connection never went out. I was able to use internet on my phone just fine during the crashes (nothing streaming to eat up bandwidth either) and my modem lights never stopped.

This has been happening to me and my FC mates the past few days, and people from other servers who were in my Copied Factory run. I was the first in my FC to start having problems but now others are having the same things happening. Makes it hard to go through duty finder if you’re crashing out every 5 minutes...

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

I apologize for the delay in our response.

Unfortunately, we can only provide troubleshooting for your home network. If you are experiencing lag or other connectivity issues, please try some of the troubleshooting steps in the following post: https://sqex.to/oaApz

If the issue stems beyond your home network or the above troubleshooting does not alleviate the issue, we recommend contacting your ISP and making a report with them.

Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
