It's not about "wanting to run Holminster Switch 25 times" (not that you need quite that many to level up anyway, but it's still tedious on repeat) - the primary purpose of them is to help you get through the MSQ; the level-grinding part seems tacked on.
I used them all through my initial run of the story - aside of the reduced queue times for a DPS role, the real appeal for me is seeing the other characters' comments and interactions.
It's also great to be able to take your time and admire the scenery. Most recently for the Grand Cosmos...
when I reached the feasting hall and the ballroom, I just ran around and looked at all the details. It stopped being a dungeon for a few minutes. I appreciated it.
Then I went with a friend who was doing it for their first time. Queue through duty finder, playing with a "real" party... we were in one end of the room and out the other at full speed. If that was my first experience, my sense of awe would have been ruined.
