Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

The locally-saved data folder is located in your 'My Documents' folder under 'My Games'. Look for a folder titled Final Fantasy XIV. If this is moved, deleted or renamed, it will set your user settings (UI, Macros, Gear Sets, etc.) to default.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

Think FF14 is hardcoded to write and read it's launcher, system and character settings from My Documents, but there are some ways around.

    * First see if you can clear up some space: C is your OS drive and its always good to keep some space for upcoming updates to Windows and Programs. Disk cleanup is good for this. Just right-click C: disk -> Properties -> Diskcleanup. See the list for how much things are taking space, please note you might have stuff in "Downloads" and "Recycle bin" you want to double-check before deleting. Press "Clean up systemfiles" for even more. Tick the boxes you want to clean making sure it's nothing you wont miss and hit "Ok." Windows keeps a lot more leftover files if you search around.

    * You can circumvent the strict need for Documents with mklinks. Never tried it with FF, but when a program looks for the files in the Documents folder you make it look somewhere else. Need a cmd window opened as admin using the following command:

mklink "<where the program looks for files>" "<your drive and path to where you keep the files>"

There are some choices to this, recommend reading up on mklinks before going through with it. https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/1622...dows-or-linux/

    Good luck.

ah thank you so much for that, but the things that keep concerning me is that when i look at documents folder or just documents on windows explorer the ffxiv seem all over the place, like not in one folder or in "my games" they all over the document and I don't know how to fix it,im thinking that i need to reinstall maybe? cuz on the game u can only change the screenshot file directory not the saves files,so there's no way to move the c right?

Thank you for the reply Ecto478.

Unfortunately, the game will only check that one folder, so it can't be moved from the C drive. If the lack of space on your C drive is causing an issue, I'd recommend making some more space or moving other files to a different drive.

Since the game only checks that folder, any other FFXIV files in the My Documents folder are irrelevant.
