*Snaps fingers*
I guess the same reason why I'm actually a talking dog irl:
I feel like playing a Lizard / Cat / Potato in a video game.
RL pic of me incase people are scared that they're gonna get catfished.
Felt cute, might delete later.
Cause female heroines are badass, and others don't want to admit it?
That’s not correct. Anyone can do anything for any reason. Looking at slutty glamours is not a surefire way to tell the gender behind the character. Some straight women in my FC play as cat girls wearing nothing but cowboy boots, a bra, and panties because they think they’re hot. Some straight men in my FC play half-naked muscular roe boys because they think they’re awesome. One of my best friends dresses up her male miqo’te in slutty clothes because she thinks he’s hot. Does that also give you a weird vibe or is it just boys playing as girls?Playing a female as male is absolutely fine, but many create their weird Barbie dolls and that is strange in my opinion - especially that they often overdo it have an according behaviour. Actual women tend to dress themselves with (more) taste because they are female and can more relate other than a guy that might want to create a puppet for his fantasies.... Can't put my finger on it, but it has a weird vibe to me.
Quantifying anyone’s reason for playing any character as being “bad” or “weird” just smells like people consciously or sub-consciously trying to make themselves feel like they’re better than another type of person regarding each of their choices on how to play this game. Yeah, there are tons of dudes playing female characters nearly naked because they’re attracted to women.
But I don’t think that’s any more or less valid than me, a guy not attracted to women who plays female characters because I’m super-duper into fashion and I think it’s fun to spend a lot of time making and theming new glams and getting complimented.
Or the guy who wants to play a giant woman. Or the girl who wants to play a cute potato. Or the people who make characters look like themselves in real life and play the game as them.
It’s an MMO, just let people have their own fun and don’t be weird about it.

In my static, which is nine people (we have a standby) we have three men that play male characters, four men that play female characters, and two women that play female characters. Even when we are in voice chat over Discord, we call each other by our character names, and no one is bothered by it. I guess you just have to play with people who aren't fussed by gender issues.
Mine does the same, we're 5 men, 1 non-binary, and 2 women. Of the guys, 3 play female characters, 2 play male, and both women play female. I used to switch race and gender every few months. In my static, which is nine people (we have a standby) we have three men that play male characters, four men that play female characters, and two women that play female characters. We just... call each other by our character names... nothing weird about that.
If I don't know just say what ever there character is or just call them by there names. Really makes me mad when you hear ones use rude comments thinking your that sex and not the other.
