No, I don't. I actually love RP - though FFXIV's RP community is heavily infested with those who pursue petty drama, creepy ERP antics and other shenanigans that became very tiresome over time. So I took my leave of Balmung recently after playing there since the days of ARR. At no point did I suggest that all role-players are guilty, but the number that are isn't small nor can it be attributed solely to bad apples from non-RP servers.

When the game's story becomes self-aware:
As a G.I.R.L. I could care less. I have never had someone ask if I'm male or female, but if they did, I'd tell them it's none of their business and sashay away.
I think he might be more upset how people act towards those in Balmung.
We do get a lot of crap and jokes onto us about E/RP. Telling people
I'm from Balmung is just annoying when you have to hear the stupid jokes around it.
I never seen open ERP in all my time here, but I'm sure it exists but not everyone
does it. I don't even RP and I get lumped into the "EWW YOU'RE FROM BALMUNG."
crowd so I'm all like:

This mentality continues to perplex me. What about that scenario is odd or creepy? Males are attracted to the female physique and like dressing up their virtual characters sexily. Also, not everyone RP's their character or plays with the mindset of injecting parts of themselves into their virtual avatar. As long as they aren't sending you inappropriate messages and aren't acting like a creeper, then what exactly is the issue? I'm genuinely curious.Of course you would be assumed as a woman, you are playing a female character after all. Or should I refer to "him" when I adress a cat lady? And about your unreasonable exaggeration: That is the core problem of you and people with your mindset. Do you want to be seen as male or female? And do you start to be triggered when I am assuming something? Look how much spin these threads get, and you are a part of that "confusion", but you love to stir things up by the trap you set up yourself (playing a female as a male and thus wondering when people address you wrongly). Maybe I just don't like fakes and are more up to WYSIWYG. You gotta live with that; it's your own choice after all.
Oh yeah, sorry, I forgot to add all the possible disclaimers to my post so you can't overwrite my personal opinion and observations by your opinion that is backed up with 0 facts as "That's not correct". Do you realize we both have a different view on the matter, but one of us is trying to "be right" about it? It gives me many weird vibes when someone plays the other gender, and there is nothing wrong with that, even if you wish to play the political correct person. I don't have to like and justify everything. If it's "an MMO" (what is that even supposed to help your argument?), I am not allowed to be creeped out when some overly sexualized Viera toon's player is called "Mike"?
I'm gonna be that guy for a second and say that the misspelling of people in the thread title is far more triggering to me than anybody's gender ever has been
Phew
Thank you, and have a good night
Long story short, ppl should just shut up, especially potatoes.
Saw a tasteless glam? Then get away from that player, it's that simple.
I don't think there are many around like that anymore. At least not in game.
As for pronouns I default to the masculine, due to internet rule#37: There are no girls on the internet.
If they correct me reasonably and/or politely, I will not refer to them as a silly potato from then on.
As for myself I don't really care how others refer to me, but I will correct them after a few times, if only to avoid some awkward catfishing scenario.
Happens more often than one would think...
