They're rather distinct already.
I doubt SE would run a contest for designing such major characters. It's very different to minor background NPCs, which is the only contest I'm aware of them running.
Well, while that info is appreciated, and welcomed, it's all conjecture. The player base doesn't know what they look like, at least officially, since you shared their models now. And we know they'd need a model to place the gear on, head piece included. But that's not the main purpose of this thread.
The main thing was along the lines, "what do you think they look like?" Or imagine they look like and, maybe SE might re-impliment that design contest from way back when.
While these characters are important NPCs, they aren't "major" characters. They are very similar to Mikoto from the Ivalician raid series, as the dev's said they were gonna do something "unique" but made her in character Creation, and even gave us her settings. And Mikoto is a legacy character from 9, Anogg and Konogg are completely original, so them getting a fan treatment would make more sense.
The main reason I suggested this is because, at the end of the raid series, it's suspected we'd see their faces. It would be an interesting little node to the fans if they got to select their appearance. And besides we know they can alter the models freely, so while they have bases, changing them is no issue.
Also about Garland Tools, possible spoiler about a Dwarf though
I forgot this was a thing, so thanks for the reminder. But when I was looking at the other Dwarves, specifically Giott, it list them as male. This might be because of the bait and switch of the quest line, but it does show that there are exceptions. Additionally, the dig site chief and watch have the same models as Giott, so some models might just be placeholders.
