    I thought AM referred to at midnight, and PM to post morning or something, correct me if I'm wrong. :P I was raised in a country that doesn't use AM or PM, just 24 hour clocks. That's probably the origin of the confusion xD
    a.m. stands for ante meridiem and p.m. for post meridiem which are latin for "before midday" and "after midday" respectively
