(I assume it works on this fish, due to the first line.)

It works for the node, or until you use it again. You can only have one type of fish traded off at a time. Typical usage is to scare off the most common fish to have a better shot at the rarer ones.

When you used it on the Noblefish that removed it from the Lakeland Cod. Only works on one fish at a time.
