    New spells

    I was wondering how many new spells we got in two expansions. Surely, on three classes and over years of updates, we should have gotten plenty of stuff to add depth to our kit, right?

    So let's look at it together!

    SCH: nope
    AST: nope
    WHM: Afflatus Misery

    That's it.

    Solace and Rapture don't even count to me, they should have been traits or actual new actions.
    Something like "You generate a lily every 30s. Casting Cure II or Medica with a lily available will consume it and make the spell free and instant-cast", or them being medium heals with regens like in PvP.


    The only new spell we gained is Misery. It does feel good to have, but really? One spell in two expansions?

    Aside from that, what did we get? A crapton of ogcds, that's what.
    Plenary Indulgence, Horoscope, Celestial Intersection, Excogitation, Aetherpact, Fey Blessing, Divine Benison, Recitation, Divination, Earthly Star...

    ...but our core gameplay remains "spam 1 and use an ogcd when needed".

    The focus on gcd that WHM has is the only thing I appreciate in the current healer design.

    I was so excited back then when I was about to get Medica II, Holy, Aero III and Assize. I was kinda excited to get Misery too. Those changed the gameplay, I felt like they made a difference.
    But the rest? Great, more ogcds. Some of them are interesting, like buffs, but too many are just [this healing spell] but as an ogcd.

    Can we get new spells for once, instead of more ogcds to cram between our gcds?

    Stronger spells on timers like the Egi Assaults?
    More dots like we used to have not so long ago?
    Stronger but more MP-hungry spells so we can have room for risk and optimisation?
    Spells that require procs based on dots or hots?

    I'm sure that something can be done, something more interesting than what we have. I mean, it's not hard to be more interesting than the current healer design.

    I joke a lot in FC chat that I want to be able to drop Jupiter on mobs. I wanna see a big friggin planet block my screen and big damage numbers floating up. I'm talking bigger than Gravity, I mean this is Jupiter here..

    Also, so you're saying you want to use GCDs MORE?

    Just as I'm not in favor of a proc based healer job, I'm not keen to any heal spells governed by RNG. Let's not have the game have too much control over life and death.

    Yeah, I want to use more different GCDs. Spamming Glare and Malefic over and over gets old really quickly, I wish we had more things tied to the GCD. What we currently have is a glorified autoattack with a nice animation, I miss having to juggle with dots.

    And I don't want a proc based healer, I simply wish we had something like Freecure or Enhanced Benefic, but on dots and hots. Not a massive change, just something to break the monotony.
    An example could be a trait like "Each Regen tick has a 15% chance to add 300 potency to the next single target healing spell for 20s" or "Each dot tick has a 30% chance to grant one use of [Spell that's better than your current filler] for 15s".

    I donno, like spamming Malefic IV lol (but I love astronomy so that maybe why...) I throw solar systems at mobs XD.

    Yes that would be a nice change, tier 1 heals are rarely used 70 onward, so the proc abilities see little action.

    I basically never use tier 1 as soon as I get Aspected Benefic and Regen, they're straight up better. It would be nice to see Cure and Benefic become useful again.

    Ironically, they took away spells too. Misery was essentially the Aero III "replacement."

    Yeah, I didn't even feel like mentioning all the removed spells for the hundredth time, everybody knows the list by now.
    I could have mentioned Heavensward, but it's the only expansion that tried to actually improve our kit instead of adding more unnecessary OGCDs.

    I don't really feel like spells specifically are what need adding. If anything, some new oGCDs are welcome - Scholar's had plenty, but the others haven't.

    Also to nitpick, Afflatus Solace and Afflatus Rapture are also new spells as of 5.0. They're instant, but they're spells all the same.

    White Mage has Plenary, Assylum, assize, presence of mind, tetra, thin air and temperance

    Ast has Draw, Play, Arcana, Divination, Celestial Opposition, Celestial Intersection, Horoscope, Nuetral Sect, Essential Dignity, Light Speed, Sleeve Draw, collective unconscious, Synastry and Earthly Star

    SCH has Energy Drain, Lustrate, Excog, Indom, Aetherflow, Recitation, Whispering Dawn, Fey Illumination, Summon Seraph, Consolation, Chain Strat, Deployment, Emergency, Fey Blessing, Fey Uninion, Dissapation and Sacred Soil

    So thats WHM 7, Ast 14 and SCH 17 unless Ive forgotten a few, and I think thats the right amount for all of them honestly, WHM is the RAW spell class, ast is the card fiddler and scholar is the off global powerhouse. More off globals wouldnt be well supported in whms kit, and ast is busy enough as it is

    Frontline/ Rival Wings/ Hidden Gorge Mount Aquisition ~0.05-1% of active players. Community: "Ugh PVP is so dead in this game, they should stop investing in it"
    Blue Mage Morbol Mount Aquisition ~0.01% of active players. Community: "WoW bLuE mAgE iS sO fUn AnD aCtIvE i CaN't WaIt FoR mOrE lImItEd JoBs"
