I'd just create a new character and start over again for the fourth time.

T'were it to happen, I would prefer they take the game down until 2.0 with whatever new systems, leveling curve, classes/jobs, etc.

And suspend subscription time or refund on subscription.

If an "accident" because of so call "earthquake","fire" or anything that can "damage physically" is ok for me as i understand the situation, but just that they do an "emergency maintenance" without having a proper backup is not a good procedure when dealing with data's that worth millions of money. Those company are sadly incompetent as i said before; "Unprofessional" in handling such datas.
