From the sounds of it Google Stadia is having a rocky start with people.

If cloud gaming is for you, I’d probably recommend Shadow if it’s available where you are. They are the best I’ve come across, I decided to give it a go when I was worried my PC was gonna die on me.

Latency is the big issue these services suffer from. Shadow’s infrastructure is built to reduce the latency as much as they possibly can on their end so that it is barely noticeable. And you’d be able to play FFXIV straight out of the box because they provide a full desktop experience. Although they are more expensive they are introducing new pricing tiers in Feb to offer cheaper options. From what I am seeing of Stadia so far, if you are in the niche that would make use of such a service, Shadow is probably worth it. Plus, as it is a full desktop experience, if say, SE did release a Stadia version of the game, you’d have to pay for the game again (and given the pricing of current titles on Stadia, they’re not good value, which I know is one complaint). Whereas you wouldn’t with Shadow.

The only probable I had with it is that I don’t think my PC gets along with their software, I used to get audio problems (like you might expect with poor decoding) that I didn’t get on my iPad or Android phone. But I saw plenty of people on YouTube not experiencing it.

Of course early days for Stadia, they could get better, but versus competition, there is the risk it’d go the way of Google Plus and some of their other projects. Hopefully they’ll iron out the problems, though it surprises me given if anybody has the infrastructure to make something like this work, it’s Google.

    Especially on Titan.

Titan loves to cheat. Get out of his AoE WHILE IT IS STILL VISIBLE and still end up flying off the edge.
you just still don't know how the game works, if you stand in bad when the cast finishes, you get hit.

    1) Stadia is complete garbage
    2) Google is complete garbage too for trying to advertise it as a 4k 60fps platform, putting games on it that are not actually 4k 60fps products, and then blaming the developers for it

SE has better things to do with their time than try to make this game work on it. Let them stick to supporting the dozen or so Tomb Raider games that are on it for the dozen or so people that might actually still be using a Stadia within a year's time.

I rather not it happens, alot of people will disconnect or drop in dungeons or raids trying this junk out, no thank you, i rather people have a good connection than wasting other peoples time.

It could work for non-battle contents like crafting, fishing and gathering. But how is subscription going to work here though, double dip from google and se ?

Cloud gaming can/does work well, but it's dependant on a lot of factors. I've personally used Parsec and Rainway for FFXIV and it's worked well enough for all aspects of the game I play. (Crafting, gathering, dungeons, alliance raids). But I'm also situated in an ideal location to make use of cloud gaming. I live relatively close to my datacenter (Southern California) and I work close to home. Something like Parsec only adds about 30ms to my gameplay which is still more than playable.

While I don't doubt that the compute clusters Google has will have any problem playing the game and encoding a video/audio stream to the client, network factors will be more of a big deal, especially if the person in question has a poor internet connection in general.

Google Stadia is a joke. Sure some like it for the very "few" good features it has but other then that i would never waste money on it.
Not to mention it will depend on players connection, this game is more forgiveable to some extent for those with a somewhat slower connection.
Stadia is not the case so SE would never go that route

Companies tried "streaming for games" in the past and it failed horribly.
Google Stadia will fail horribly as well, no matter how much money Google is going to throw against it.

The majority of internet connections are not suited for this kind of gameplay.
They're either unstable or capped on data-limits. I really don't want to see the cost of people with limits, or people raging cause the stream cuts out every 10 seconds because the line cannot handle it.
Not to mention the requirements on bandwidth...

So far I haven't seen a single positive experience with any of these "streaming services"
Only promises they will address the concerns raised.
Till they show it's actually possible to play online games without above mentioned issues, it simply isn't worth it.

The other main concern I have is the availability, accessibility of the games being offered.
Subscription fees to play certain games at certain periods?
When I buy a game, it's to keep it, and play it when I want, not when Google feels like it.
What if Internet cuts out? How do I get to play then?

Stadia runs great, but it's not for everyone and streaming isn't for everyone just yet. I don't know if they plan to port FFXIV to it, but it would be awesome as Cloud gaming could really benefit MMOs.

Honestly I hope SE waits to see how Stadia will work - as in stay around. I fully expect Google to abandon it in 1-2 years like they do most other initiatives they put in place. I'd hate for SE to devote any resources to it for Google to just say "whoops nevermind".

Also streaming games, while perhaps in the future will be the thing, right now there are not many places that have the infrastructure to actually make this kind of service reliable. Not to mention people have data-caps and such on their plans. Until ISPs want to actually invest in their network capabilities, Stadia and the like are going to be only for a very niche market in the right geographic locations.
