    Why no Speech bubbles?

I think this game lacks of speech bubbles. They would improve the conversations going on in the cities. When I see someone writing in chat, I have no clue where that guy/girl is standing.
Further speech bubbles would improve roleplaying and hanging around and socializing in the big cities.

This feature is for example already in gw2 and it makes socializing at random places really fun.

I hope you can implement speech bubbles in this game as well someday, it would be a beneficial addition to ff14.

This comes up regularly. I'm just going to repeat what I said last time. No way. It will cause really bad clutter on screen in densely packed areas making it even worse than it already is to find an NPC or something you need.

Give us the option to disable it then?

If they have a toggle option for this, then it's a no issue.

Even better, make it toggleable for certain channels. I'd really love for /party chat. Sometimes in the middle of a dungeon chaos, it's really hard to take your eyes off the center of the screen to catch a message in /p... with chat bubbles you'd be able to see it more easily.

Hm, just saw other replies... I'm kind of shocked on the animosity of people against the implementation of an optional feature.

I think the official response was “servers servers, please understand”. I ‘member this shite bein’ talked about way back when, wit color coded names for friends an’ FC mates. Well we got the friends in orange...! So who knows.

Right, so make it a toggle. Problem solved.

I could never imagine it being so busy in a area that having speech bubbles from players would make it hard to see a NPC, most aetherites in the servers I’ve visted minus Balmung Ul’dah don’t have much conversation going, and even if there was you enough conversation going on that these chat bubbles crowed the area, I’m sure they would have a option to turn it off as people would share the same concern as you.

The only exception to this is during major events (Moonfire Faerie, All Saint’s Wake, etc) and Balmung Ul’dah sometimes (wasn’t always super chatty when I visited there), but I turn off my general chat general to avoid the the less-than-stellar chat quality during those events, and I’m sure others do too, and all I would have to do is turn off the chat bubbles to acompany this choice.

I don't think it's that difficult to implement this feature.
