Dancer seems largely intuitive but I have two questions about the job.

1. Should standard step be used on cooldown, or should you try and refresh it shortly before the buff falls off?

Use Standard Step every 30 seconds on cooldown. The total potency of the skill is very high, making it one of our strongest hits alongside Technical Finish and Saber Dance.

2. When flourishing, should you use your aoe procs from flourish to fish for fan dance procs on single target, or ignore them and only use your single target procs? What about the single target procs in aoe situations? Is it better on average to fish for the fan dance or just to let the procs fade?

Yes. Rising Windmill is 300 potency and Bloodshower is 350, the same as your single target procs (Reverse Cascade and Fountainfall, respectfully). Since Flourish procs then for free, you should always use them—it’s free damage at zero cost.

In AOE situations, you begin to ignore Reverse Cascade and Fountainfall at 3+ mobs because it’s a higher gain to AOE combo (Windmill > Bladeshower) over pausing to use single-target moves. In addition to this, you stop using Standard Step on cooldown when facing more than 5 mobs at a time, as the gain from your AOE combo and procs is higher than pausing to dance. Just make sure to refresh it before it falls off to maintain the +5% buff!

For your Fourfold Feathers, make sure to stockpile them for your Technical Finish+Devilment windows (it gives them an extra +5% potency plus the +20% increased chance to crit/direct hit), but also be mindful to not overcap on them. Our feather gauge plays a sound now at 4 feathers, so you don’t have to watch it as closely as you did prior to Patch 5.1.
