    Miqo Naming Conventions

So, I was wondering, how would a female sun kitty be named if they became a part of Garlemald? Obviously, clans tags and the Nunh name would go out the window.... what now? Say, someone named Y'tsuri Rhul for example: from the Y clan with Rhul Nunh being the Nunh. Then they get captured and then later on integrated into Garlean society as a merchant. How would the Bas title be implemented? Would it be Tsuri bas and thats it?

Likely similar to how it works with Roegadyns, who don't have surnames; they simply pick a surname that fits the Garlean society.

Why would they need to change their name?

It would be Tsuri bas (Surname) if I recall. Kinda like how Fordola in spite of being Ala Mhigan in origin came to be known as Fordola rem Lupis - which seems to be taken on in honor of Gaius "The Black Wolf" and in reference to her position within the Crania Lupi. You could have your Miqo'te pick a surname for themselves of Latin origin that fits whatever ideal or fancy they've come to value in Garlemald. You could also keep the Rhul part, Tsuri bas Rhul, I don't recall anyone saying that wasn't allowed but my grasp on Garlean lore is very thin so someone else with better knowledge is more than welcome to correct me.

A lot of the transplants into Garlean society seem to take on Garlean naming conventions. Fordola is one and Rhitahtyn sas Arvina is another, neither were born in Garlemald and Rhitahtyn especially was from a conquered land we never learn the name of.

Thanks for the info. I wish Square Enix go more in depth into Garlean lore than just what we hear enemies say and what are written in the Great Gubal Library.

Another possibility is that instead of dropping the clan tag entirely you convert it into a surname (since they're functionally equivalent to it already).

The naming conventions page lists a totem animal for each tribe:

The bit in brackets is a separate list of how you pronounce the letter at the start of their names.

    A: Antelope (pronunciation: short Ah)
    B: Boar (short Bee)
    C: Coeurl (short Ka)
    D: Dodo (short Deh)
    E: Eft (short Eh)
    F: Bear (short F)
    G: Gryphon (short, hard Goo)
    H: Gigantoad (short Hah)
    I: Buffalo (short Ee)
    J: Jackal (short Jah)
    K: Hipparion (short Koo)
    L: Viper (short Lee)
    M: Marmot (short Meh)
    N: Aldgoat (short N)
    O: Mole (short Oh)
    P: Basilisk (short Peh)
    Q: Puk (short Key)
    R: Raptor (short Ruh)
    S: Zu (short Soo)
    T: Condor (short Tuh)
    U: Drake (Ooh)
    V: Vulture (short Vah)
    W: Wolf (whort Wah)
    X: Lynx (short She)
    Y: Jaguar (short Yah)
    Z: Ziz (short Zoh)

And also that you can interpret (for example) R'sushmo as "Sushmo of the Raptors" so it doesn't seem much of a stretch for it to simply become Sushmo Raptor.
