Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
If this only happened when you updated to Windows 10, it's most likely something to do with your Windows configurations. Make sure to check the following before launching the game:
1) Update Windows. Make sure to install any optional updates as well.
2) Double-check that your anti-virus has the proper exceptions for Final Fantasy XIV.
3) Perform a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC. This will make sure that no background processes are interfering with the game.
4) The game will use the Internet Explorer web browser to connect to the internet. Open Internet Explorer, then open the "Tools" setting, go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
- Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
- Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
- Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
- Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
- Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
- Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!
A bunch of stuff changed from Win7 to 10, it is unfortunately not unlikely something broke. I've never experienced anything like what you're describing, but stopping short of full uninstalling and reinstall you can try changing a setting in the ffxiv.cfg file. Should still be at:
C:\Users\<our Account’s Name>\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV – A Realm Reborn\ffxiv.cfg
* First one I just heard about and not tested, but try pressing "Scroll Lock" on your keyboard when you see the title screen and no menu. Scroll Lock hides all on-screen elements so it might be hidden.
* Open ffxiv.cfg in a text editor and look for "CutsceneOpening", if this is followed by "0", change it to "1". Save and close. See if it helps.
* If there is no change, try taking a backup of the ffxiv.cfg file to another folder, delete it from ...\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV – A Realm Reborn\ and try starting the game. It should generate a new one and load default graphics settings, hopefully clearing up whatever stopped your menu from loading.
* If neither works, then I would strongly suggest to uninstall and redownload FFXIV and any other games or applications you work with to be sure they're installed while running Windows 10.
