    Don't know what to do.

My Ps4 recently died and I'm in the market for something new. I dunno what'll play better for XIV.. buying another PS4 pro with a new tv.. OR saying buck it and buying this laptop. I say laptop because my funds are limited to pretty much 800 bucks. Still got bills to pay.. but here is the laptop. I need help choosing.

vs just buying a PS4 pro.

I mean, I couldn't imagine playing this game on a console. However...if you do go laptop, you'll have to buy the game license for the PC version. Your PS4 license only lets you play on a PS4, not PC.

If it's solely for ff14 then maybe buying PS4 pro and investing in a SSD (they are cheap and easily installable in a PS4) would be good choice.

For 700$ you could build a really nice desktop that will play your game in 90+ fps and you still will be able to play it with controller without problems.
    Something like this:

Also need to keep in mind that once you switch platforms you have to buy FFXIV once again for that certain platform.

Just buy a PS4 pro and a SSD along with it, so FFXIV load times will be faster. (PS4 Pro makes it much easier to swap out SSDs. It takes like 5 minutes to do.) If you buy a laptop you’ll need to buy the PC licenses, and that includes expansions. Keep in mind that PS5 is coming out around November - December2020. PS5 will also have a Ryzen + ray tracing + SSD according to rumors.

So, either wait for that to come out and wait for Yoshida to add FFXIV to ps5, or just get a PS4 pro now. Plus laptops aren’t really as optimal as an actual desktop.

This is harder then it needs to be. Well a few points out the way I forgot to mention. If I go laptop I did have a plan for the rebuying everything again. I took that into mind before asking, but that's on me for not mentioning it. I seriously was thinking about it but for some reason didn't jot that down also. The other thing is I was debating on where a PS4 pro sits between that laptop or a desktop. No matter what I do by the way I'm spending pretty much 800 bucks either way as I have to buy a new tv if I get another PS4 pro. So sadly it's not just a PS4 pro vs that laptop.. it's more like the PS4 pro plus a tv vs just getting that laptop with the game plus a controller cause I can't play on M&KB.. I just can't.

I dunno if that makes it better but yeah. Also.... I wish I could wait til PS5 but that's a YEAR.... I'm already having withdraws and it's just been a WEEK. Yeah.. video games are my life... I can't wait longer then I'm waiting now. And I just have to wait 5 days lol. A year would kill me. So this is why I'm lost on either the laptop or the PS4 pro.. I'm shocked the playstation seems to be winning. Figured people would pick the laptop xD.

But with those details spelled out.. does any of you guys choices change os am I just better off buying the PS4 Pro?

Personally I'd go with the PS4 if you're not really a PC gamer anyway, it also means buying a new TV for what ever reason you had so at least you get that out of the way as well, and you get to keep all of your PS4 games that you couldn't play again if you get a laptop, saying that though, if you don't care for any of your games and aren't particularly bothered about getting a new TV, then the laptop seems quite good for what you'd be paying.

Dont buy a laptop, its a junk in 90% of times and you really have to know the insides outs to choose a proper one. The one you have choose is not really that good and will not last you for long. I had 3 gaming laptops that i bought from a good shop and they just died because of poor design.
Ps4 has terrible exhaust solution causing overheating of the components it does not live long enough either.
Also trust me i have ps4 pro and i wasnt too happy due to the fps dropping below 50 on it in ffxiv which has a big impact on my job.
Get yourself a good desktop, build it yourself, you will thank me later and it will allow you to play any mmorpg you want since a ton of them are not available on console.
You will be able to plug in two monitor screens and play game on one and do something else on another when for example you craft something or gather.
It will cost you more but its worth it.

Just get a PS4 pro. There are plenty of sales on right now where ever you are in the world. It will also be the easiest option for you to just carry on as usual without needing to buy extra game licences.

The risk to bear in mind with gaming laptops is their hardware ages and becomes outdated quicker, it's harder to upgrade parts and upgrades can be limited. Gaming laptops don't always last, depending on what you get because they can generate a lot of heat, which can affect the life of parts. So I usually err caution when it comes to gaming laptops. Plus laptops spec for spec are more expensive.

Nowadays I have a desktop computer, the nicest thing is they're easy to upgrade when something does break or you need new specs. Recently my HDD was on its way out and suffering heavily, it didn't take much to fit a new one and clone my old one onto it.

But really, it depends on what works for you, if you're not much of a PC gamer, the PS4 might be more economical over a gaming laptop or PC and can take some of the hassle away you might get with a PC.
