FFXIV Launcher not saving square enix ID even with the earlier "fix"

    Hello!

This is of cause just a minor gripe, but still something I would love to see a solution to.
I use the stand alone version of FFXIV, and can't get the launcher to save my Square Enix ID. Now, after a search, I found a "solution" and many replies of "thanks! that worked for me."

    Said solution:
1.Hit windowskey-s to open the windows search.
2.Type in "Internet Options" and select the top result which opens the Internet Properties window from the control panel.
    3.Click the Security tab.
    4.Click the "Trusted Sites" zone.
    5.Click the "Sites" button.
6.Add both https://square-enix.com and http://square-enix.com to the list of trusted sites.
7.Apply/close out of the Internet Properties window.
8.Relauch the launcher and check the "Remember Square Enix ID" button and login.
    9.Success!

This did not work for me. I had IE11 removed, so I tried enabling that again. I rebooted my PC and tried to run the launcher as admin. I also explicitly added both https://square-enix.com and http://square-enix.com to my default browsers (chrome) allowed cookies filter, with no luck.

Also, I don't know if this is related or not, but the launcher feels very sluggish and unresponsive, and the Facebook, Twitter etc buttons on the bottom right just shows black circles for me.

Again, a minor issue. I can log in and play the game just fine. I just would like to save those 3-4 seconds I need to type in my ID every time

EDIT: In case it is even slightly relevant, here is my DxDiag log - https://pastebin.com/ZZf2yM5U

Good morning and thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

The issue could be from another add in or anti virus program interfering with it. Could you try doing a cleanboot? : Open the task manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC) and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC.

i would also like to report the same issue. I have added https://square-enix.com
though i could not add http://square-enix.com to allowed sites, due to it not being secure.

this issue has been going on since the release of the new client for me, and i have the same exact symptoms.
no add in or antivirus is running when i was troubleshooting this issue.
how does the client save the login name is what i would like to know would help me troubleshoot this issue

OK, so I tried all that, but still the FFXIV Launcher did not save my username. I then tried uninstalling my anti virus completely, but still it wouldn't work.

Thank you for the reply krum85.

The data for that function should be stored in the locally-saved data folder (located My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV). Have you tried removing this folder? Logging in again will replace the folder in the same location. Make sure to create a backup of this so you can replace it if it doesn't solve the issue.

Have you tried reinstalling the game as well?

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

Tried that, still doesn't work... Is there a flag I can manually add to the FFXIV_BOOT.cfg file to enable it? took a look, but didn't see any user id save option that was obvious to me.
