I thoroughly believe it depends on how and where it was filed.
I regularly report NSFW search comments and names and chanced a glimpse of a GM loading in to confirm it. They respond within 30 minutes or less, always.
In all my reports for various reasons, the slowest response I got was a launcher error (about several hours wait time), the solution being me forgetting I changed cards and my sub was no longer active.
Personally, if I was Yoshida or a dev team member, I would not respond to Forum suggestions and give a definitive answer. Why? Because then people wouldn’t watch my Live letters where I explain everything in great detail. Also, it just brings more viewers in general. It brings more people to the forum as well.
Problem with that is, when you don’t answer anything for a long period of time, or give generic “please look forward to it” responses, people stop caring about the forums and say “Oh, well SE doesn’t care about us anyway.”

I think people would at least have a little affirmation by seeing something like, “thank you for the feed back, we will pass it on” some sort of interaction even if it’s small like that

The short term effects of responding to threads with "We'll look into it" are immediately positive, but very often the long term effect is that players don't trust CMs anymore just because they don't see the results they want, or fast enough.
It's generally not worth it to respond to threads with updates like that unless the issue affects all/most players (like sever issues) and they are able to adjust it immediately. That wouldn't be the case for things like balance and cosmetics, but would be for something like Firmament's overflow.
Plus if they do it for one thing they'd need to do it for everything otherwise then they're "favoring <activity I don't care about>", but if they do it for everything it's just redundant and again, people will stop believing it.
Communities make communicating effectively very, very difficult. The spectrum of understanding and willfully misconstruing things is so wide...
