    Request for 6.0 - Make all Whm/Blm 1h weapons have 2h stats & shield is glamour only

    This is a suggestion that will probably help out people in the long run, as well as giving some glamour options for blm/whm (And maybe new future glamour).

    We have many 1h weapons in game for Blm/Whm. I do not have the source right now, but I clearly remember someone mentioning from SE that the 1h weapons + shield stuff was leftover from 1.X.

    I'm suggesting that all 1h weapons for Blm/Whm be given 2h weapon stats, and all shields just be purely for glamour and useable with the 2h weapons.

    We have many 1h weapons that a lot of people do like the look of, but everyone is forced to never use them again outside of possible RP purposes. There's even a weapon from the FFXIII crossover event. Some of the shields/targes/bucklers people do like the looks of as well.

    This is a kind of big suggestion for these items, which is why I'm suggesting for 6.0 with the stat overhauls and changing how some of the items work in game and would possibly take some time.

    Plus side for SE is that more people would possibly buy their cash shop items, since I've seen a lot of people on the forums, and in game, say that they'd buy certain items *cough*FFXIIIwhm/blmones*cough*.

    Personally, I was never a fan of wands, but if we could glamour over to make a staff* + shield look, I'm all in.

    *We already hold staves with one hand anyways, so they were never "2h"

    As I said in the other discussion, I assume it's partly about the animations. Wands and staves are carried differently, and need different unsheathe motions.

    Wands would look pretty silly carried on your back like a staff.

    That wouldn't work the way you'd think it could. All shields even the low ones that can be equipped by both whm and thm/blm at that level can be used by the gld/pld. And thus cutting out one item they do need.

    given the recent trend of rereleasing role restricted sets as level 1 gear it might be easier to ask for new level 1 staffs with old wand models

    Yeah, the issue about sheathing animations might not make them as easy as it looks to simply rebrand the old items as 2h staves...

    So I kind of agree with the idea of creating a handful of new items but using the wand models but just changing the sheath to the hip (dunno if the "code" allows to add that to a 2h WHM/BLM weapon though...)

    They would certainly see more people purchasing the XIII wands in the mogstation if so.

    It is - shield use was originally it's own seperate sub-class called 'Sentinel' (or 'SEN' for short) in the original launch version of FFXIV version 1.0, where shields could be equipped to GLA, THM and CNJ, that class's 'class rank' would gain SP when a shield was equipped to any of those classes, but SEN abilities could only be used when a shield was equipped to GLA. SEN as an actual class was scrapped completely when the battle system was redesigned circa patch 1.20 in preperation for the addition of Jobs, and shield use became classless, with SEN's abilities being given to GLA/PLD by default (but again could only be used if a shield was equipped). This resulted in a legacy of level 1 to 50 having certain shields that could be used still by CNJ/WHM and THM/BLM, with single-handed wands and rods respectively for those classes (even Y'shtola used a single-handed wand originally).

    Because ARR has the ability for old 1.0 players to transfer their 1.0 character data into ARR with all their previous levels and EXP available, that requires that old legacy to be present in the new game to prevent errors occuring. So it's not going to be removed I'm afraid, as SE will not throw 1.0 players under the bus like that again, given it was continuing 1.0 player support that allowed ARR's development in the first place.

    As for the FFXIII CNJ/WHM and THM/BLM weapons being converted to two-handed weapons, again I doubt SE will do this as they've never gone back and changed old event gear to accomodate changes to the battle system (you also have to remember that the FFXIII gear is actually not 'glamour gear' - it's level 13 not not level 1, and has very good stats for that level, some of the best low level gear in the game - this is because it was originally added to ARR before the glamour system was added.

    Although it would be nice to see them make adjustments to the FFXIII gear (including adding new gear for new classes and Jobs added to the game since then), I don't see it happening I'm afraid.

    Then they could possibly set up for an item trade type thing, like how people could exchange the wand from Levi/King Mog for the 2h version. It becomes a totally different weapon, and there's a limited amount of the items in the game, as we'll never get 1h items again for whm/blm.
