I wouldn't say it needs to be removed entirely,

But a post-count per thread per day, or at the very least an increase in the daily post limit would be good.

On one hand, the limit can stifle discussion in some fashion yes. But on the other hand, removing it can also make threads and posters more spammy than they already are since there would be no consequence in how much they post. You could argue "But forum moderation" - This would effectively be a full-time job for several people.
